Thanks for visiting and considering whether our program is the right fit for you. The Washington Technology Industry Association Workforce Institute’s Apprenti program (“Apprenti”) is a first-of-its-kind registered apprenticeship program for technology careers in the United States, and we’re excited to be able to start you on a path to success through an education and on-the-job training opportunity.

Whether or not you obtain an apprenticeship, any use of our website and services is subject to these terms and conditions. Please take some time to review this information before proceeding. Please also be aware that Apprenti’s fast-paced and flexible model means that the way the program operates and the kinds of services managed through our web properties may change over time, and these terms may need to be adjusted occasionally to match. You might want to check back from time to time to make sure you’re up to date. By signing up for an account or starting your application, you are agreeing to the following:

Misuse of Services

Portions of our website are available only to registered users in association with their application for our program (“Apprenti Portal”), including the interactive set of questions (“Assessment”) we use in the screening process. Access to this information is limited in order to protect your privacy and the integrity of the applicant screening process. Violating those restrictions affects everyone’s use of the Apprenti program and does not provide you with any benefit, so please respect the boundaries and limitations put in place. Misuse of services, including registering multiple accounts, registering an account on behalf of another individual (except interpreters/case workers/legal agents or guardians), knowingly providing false information, or attempting to circumvent security measures or Assessment restrictions, may result in disqualification from the Apprenti program.

Any vandalism or unauthorized access to our website or services may also be referred to law enforcement.

User Accounts on the Apprenti Portal

Access to the Apprenti Portal is authorized only for registered users, and only for information associated with that user account. Do not access or attempt to access information stored in other accounts or bypass or attempt to bypass the user authentication system. You are responsible for all activities and statements made under the user account assigned to you and are permitted to access only one such account. Registering and using multiple accounts is a misuse of our services. User accounts are the property of Apprenti and may be suspended or revoked at any time at Apprenti’s discretion.

Our Intellectual Property

All content other than your own personal information on the Apprenti website, within the Apprenti Portal, and the Apprenti Assessment is the exclusive property of the WTIA Workforce Institute. You may not save, copy, reproduce, modify, or redistribute any Apprenti content, other than hyperlinking to our public website or sharing approved marketing materials, without our written permission. Using our services does not give you ownership of any intellectual property rights in our services, including copyrights, patents, trademarks, industrial design rights, or any other proprietary rights.

Don’t use the Apprenti or Workforce Institute logos without permission or embed any of our content in another website in a way that obscures the original content. Do not share Assessment questions, or the answers to questions, with anyone who may be a candidate in the future. If you spot an error in an Assessment question, please let us know so we can address it.

Your Intellectual Property

Any information that is submitted by users except personally identifying information, including but not limited to demographic data, responses to Assessment questions, and data collection during and after the screening process, becomes part of Apprenti’s own datasets. Your personally-identifying information will be safeguarded in accordance with our Privacy Policy and used only for required governmental reporting or in order to provide services to you in the Apprenti program. Please do not submit any of your own intellectual property to us (like code samples, portfolio pieces, or writing samples) unless you are requested to do so and are comfortable granting us the license to use and share that material internally, including with our hiring and training partners.

You will own the property rights in any work completed in our training programs, granting us an unlimited license to copy, modify, and distribute that work in association with the operation of the Apprenti program. Please be aware that the work you perform while placed with one of our hiring partners will fall under that company’s policies and legal agreements, which usually means that they will own all the software and documentation you write while on the job.

For marketing and promotion purposes, you may be asked if we can share your work or your photo publicly, but you will always be asked permission in writing, and your decision whether or not to allow it will not affect your participation in our programs or services.

Participation

Apprenti’s program and services are built around a commitment to fostering a positive, collaborative environment for all participants, including equal opportunity and access for eligible candidates and strong protections for the elimination of bias and harassment from program activities.

Harassment

All individuals participating in our programs and services, including applicants, apprentices, hiring partners, training partners, and Apprenti staff are entitled to an environment free from harassment or discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, medical condition, marital status, national origin, religion, genetic information, or any other basis protected by applicable law.

Any verbal or physical conduct designed to threaten, intimidate, coerce, or impair a positive work or learning environment is harassment and is strictly prohibited. This also includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or any kind of conduct contributing to a hostile environment. Courteous, mutually respectful, pleasant, non-coercive interactions between individuals that are appropriate, welcome, and comfortable for all participating parties are not considered harassment.

Equal Opportunity

Among Apprenti’s primary goals is to increase diversity in the technology workforce, particularly but not exclusively for women, people of color, and military veterans. In support of this goal, Apprenti maintains an Affirmative Action Plan consistent with US Department of Labor guidelines to boost the number of diverse candidates eligible for our program. In order to assess progress toward these goals, we invite all individuals to disclose, to the extent you are comfortable, any diverse traits that you feel are part of your identity and may be underrepresented in the technology workforce.

Privacy

The Apprenti Privacy Policy is available in full at apprenticareers.org/privacy-policy.

User Information and Assessment Results

Information about yourself that you provide via the Apprenti Portal, including your answers and scores from the Assessment, will be used to evaluate eligibility for the Apprenti program. Your personal information will not be disclosed except in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

You may withdraw from the program and close your account by contacting us at info@apprenticareers.org. However, once your information is collected and stored by Apprenti, it becomes part of our records system and we are unable to disaggregate it or retroactively remove it from our databases.

Cookies & Analytics

As detailed in the Privacy Policy, portions of our website may rely on cookies to operate, and we collect analytics and telemetry data on the use of our website for the purpose of identifying trends and making improvements to our services.

Warranties and Disclaimers

We work hard to ensure that our websites, services, and program activities are delivered in a high-quality, accurate, and reliable manner. However, we cannot guarantee perfection.

OTHER THAN AS EXPRESSLY SET OUT IN THESE TERMS OR ADDITIONAL TERMS (INCLUDING CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS AND OFFER LETTERS), NEITHER APPRENTI NOR ITS PARTNERS OR VENDORS MAKE ANY SPECIFIC PROMISES ABOUT THE SERVICES. APPRENTI CANNOT MAKE ANY COMMITMENTS ABOUT CONTENT, TIMETABLES, THE SPECIFIC RESULTS OF THE ASSESSMENT OR RANKED LIST, OR THEIR RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, OR ABILITY TO MEET YOUR NEEDS. WE PROVIDE SERVICES AND OPERATE THE PROGRAM ON AN “AS IS” BASIS.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE EXCLUDE ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF APPRENTI AND ITS PARTNERS AND VENDORS FOR ANY CLAIMS UNDER THESE TERMS, INCLUDING FOR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT PAID TO APPRENTI FOR USE OF THE SERVICES OR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM.

Miscellaneous

If certain terms or conditions are not enforceable in your jurisdiction, they do not apply to you, but that will not affect the rest of these terms. Similarly, if we choose not to act in response to a violation of these terms, that does not mean we surrender the right to do so in the future.

These terms are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Washington. Any dispute involving our program or services that is not resolved by mutual agreement will first be addressed using a mutually agreed mediator. In the event of failure of mediation, we will resolve the dispute through binding arbitration, with each side bearing its own costs and expenses. When this is not possible or not appropriate, litigation will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of the State of Washington. Your participation in the Apprenti program is consent for personal jurisdiction in these courts.
