Armchair fiction presents extra-large paperback editions of the best in classic science fiction novels. Will N. Harben’s “The Land of the Changing Sun” is the tenth installment of our "Lost World-Lost Race Classics" series, and it’s a hollow Earth Science Fiction Classic. When a pair of air balloonists end up stranded on a lonely island in the Atlantic, they soon find themselves rescued by the crew of an incredible underwater vessel. They are then taken on a fantastic journey to a lost world deep within the bowels of the Earth. Here they encounter a strange race of humans—a race that is superior, both mentally and physically, to the humans of the surface world. It is a futuristic civilization of advanced science and unheard of technology, living under the rays of a mechanical sun that, amazingly, changes color with every passing hour. But after a brief taste of this newfound utopia, our surface adventurers find themselves imprisoned by their hosts, with seemingly little chance of ever returning to the surface world again….

I cannot get enough of the down to earth stories from this author. I can simply picture every character. The tale is so vivid you feel like you are there.

The descriptions were so vivid that I dreamed of this utopia cave land. As someone with bad genes I appreciate their goal of perfection in all things

the writer did not know much about electricity

A hollow earth classic - with a mix of advanced society and technology! This novel is often presented as a `hidden truth' book - while called fiction, many felt it really was about a real society. It spawned many who wanted to voyage to find the entrance to the hollow earth. I enjoyed this hollow earth story, and the amazing imagery of life and the superior knowledge the people there had.

This book when into nice details about life in this advanced utopia, and that is one of the things I like most about it. The story was good, and well written, but it's nice to get more than just a surface of what this world is like, so the detail was well enjoyed by me, and others who like utopian fiction. The title is about the fact that the society has two `suns' or sources of light, i.e. changing all the time.

One more `master race' hollow earth book, that has a very good description of the life within the earth, and their society, which could be seen as utopian or dystopian depending on your point of view. This master race has technology far advanced to ours, and even though the book was written long ago, it does not seem dated. The descriptions of the city are truly beautiful, adding to the belief that many of these early hollow earth books were really truth disguised as fiction.

Hollow Earth fiction, complete with an advanced master race - but its a serious book, with a very intelligent Utopian society.

If you like Utopian fiction, you will get past the hollow earth part to enjoy it. If you do like the Hollow Earth stuff, you'll be happy too.

Great book in all ways!

3.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps not the best written or most coherent of lost race novels

Perhaps not the best written or most coherent of lost race novels, but some interesting, novel ideas, and quite entertaining -- besides I'm a sucker for lost-race novels.
