I have 4 animals and have fostered many more at the same time. Never have I ever had a product work this well. I'm quite impressed. You do have to roll back and forth quickly and apply a decent amount of pressure. Is it perfect, getting 100% of hair trapped in fabric fibers? No. Does it do a damn good job? Yes! I did notice that my thumb would unintentionally push the release button as I'm getting my roll on.... Allowing the billowy cloud of captured hair to escape back to wence it came.... Not good. I did find that if I make sure that I place thumb just above the button, the hair stays trapped. Deal breaker? Absolutely not!!

The Chom Chom Roller excels at removing pet hair from furniture and carpets. It quickly picks up even the most stubborn hairs from my sofas, chairs, and rugs. The roller’s unique design makes it easy to use, and it collects hair efficiently without the need for adhesives or refills. It’s especially useful for deep cleaning and regular maintenance of pet-heavy areas. While the Chom Chom Roller works wonders on furniture and carpets, it’s less effective on clothes. It doesn’t pick up hair from fabrics as efficiently, and I found it a bit cumbersome to use on clothing. For clothes, I still prefer a traditional lint roller or brush that is specifically designed for fabric surfaces.

I have always had at least one dog and I'm used to coping with some dog hair, but I've never allowed dogs on the furniture and I also think that my dogs all had hair that was fairly easy to remove.

Fast forward to 2012, and I am in a second marriage with 3 kids. The last "not on furniture" dog died and we got a new dog named Zara. Hubs grew up in a house that allowed dogs on the furniture so when we saw that that Zara was able to jump on the furniture we had to make a decision. We did it the good ol' American way and put it to a vote. Hubs and all three girls voted to let the dog on the furniture, much to my dismay. Worse, Zara's hair is like nothing I've seen before... once it gets onto cloth, most of the time it clings to the point that the hairs have to be pulled out individually. Vacuuming, tape-style lint rollers, a Gleener depiller, velcro balls in the washer/dryer, Bounce pet hair dryer sheets ... they all leave a lot behind.

Fast forward to 2020 and not only am I at my wits' end with the dog hair, but all three kids are grown women and none of us likes that we can't sit on the furniture without having to get out a hand-held vacuum and vacuum the dog hair off the back of each others' pants.

Fast forward one last time to last week when I finally decided to get this Chom Chom gadget. I am ASTOUNDED at how well it works. I think the secret is with the little squeegee on the roller. I've tried using a squeegee on carpet before and it really does work, but it is unwieldy, cannot easily be done in more than one direction, and it must be done with a vacuum nearby to gather whatever gets pulled up. Also, then the squeegee ends up with pet hair on it so it needs to be cleaned before it gets put back into service for cleaning glass. With the Chom Chom, you get the benefit of the squeegee, but since it is on the roller, it is easier to do back/forth strokes. And then as for how the dog hair gets off the roller and into the hair collection chamber... maybe it is sorcery? I have no idea how that works but IT DOES!!

In full honesty, I still have to do extra strokes to get all of Zara's hair (it gets our other dog's "easy hair" on the first swipe), but the amount that the Chom Chom picks up relative to the number of passes I have to make over the fabric is unbelievable!

Once the chamber is full, I use a handheld vac to remove the hair and then it is ready to go again!

The only downsides that I can see are:
- Some dog hair gets trapped in the side hinges of the door to the collection chamber and has to be pulled out with the fingers. It is possible that if I cleaned it before it got SO FULL, that problem would go away, but we just have SO MUCH dog hair and the gadget is so effective that I would be emptying every couple of minutes.
- The button to open the collection chamber door is right where I place my thumb for strength so I tend to pop it open when I am doing the actual rolling task (I seem to have this problem with a lot of products that have a button in the center, so that might be a "me" problem.)
- The chom chom is 7.5" wide which is excellent for cleaning furniture, but a narrower version would be better for clothing, especially when the dog hair gets on the clothes while they're being worn and it would be impractical to remove the clothes (e.g., if you get dog hair on your black pants when you ride in your co-worker's car to lunch during the workday.)

BOTTOM LINE: I have had this little gadget for less than a week and have already recommended it to several people and wrote this review while I was looking to see if they had a narrower model for my car/office/coat closet. I wish I had owned this years ago, and I would 100% buy it again.

I rarely write reviews but am compelled to write about this mighty gem. We have two medium hair cats--a fastidious Maine Coon who sheds a bit and a dilute calico who came from the cat factory plum without a grooming gene. Bless her heart, she is a shedding disaster. I had given up sitting in her preferred upholstered chair because my butt would just be covered in fur every time. It would take multiple sheets of sticky roller to defur my hind end, to say nothing of defurring the chair. And using the big vacuum to clean the chair is just tedious, loud, inconvenient, and honestly, not all that effective.

Then we got this simple, genius tool. It cleans up that chenille chair in 15 seconds, and I can clean the couch in under a minute. I've even used it on carpeted stairs, and it picks up a very surprising amount of fur that our beefy vacuum leaves behind. I use it on anything cloth--furniture, kitchen chair pads, my clothes after brushing the shedding disaster, human bedding, pet bedding, my black fur-magnet jacket, etc. I wish we'd have gotten this years ago. This should just be in the starter kit for cats and kittens. Plus, it is so gratifying to pop the little device open and gawk at the shocking amount of fur collected in such a short amount of time. Super easy to empty too.

Just FYI, unlike a sticky roller, it is not good at picking up things like crumbs or dirt, but then again, that's not why I bought it.

Highly, highly recommend!

PS - Lest you be concerned about the super shedder, we've found a wonderful self-cleaning slicker brush that is great at tackling the issue at the source, but that's for another review.

Not bad for the price and it works rather well but may not have much of a lifespan.

The fabric on the roller creates a hair-collecting action and it's a pretty well-improved design; the best being that during each back and forth pass, the hair is collects in the trap rather than having to do it yourself.

I worry, however, that it's too lightweight and lever that opens the hair trap is too easy to accidentally press. Mind you, it's easy to close but it's annoying.

There are some techniques that help speed up the process, especially on fabrics like blankets or comforters. If you can, hold the fabric taught and sweep the roller back and forth and it'll work like a charm. The back and forth action clean the red fabric bits that catch the hair and release them into the hair trap. I look forward to using it in the car and will update my review when I do!

I wish it was more sturdy >and< Made in the USA. As a consumer, I'd pay more for the product in order to support US manufacturing jobs. But nice work - 3.5 out of 5
