I am really impressed with this pack; it is quite a voluminous 45-Liter pack and works wonderfully as a travel pack, mission pack, or range bag. The Molle/PALS webbing on the inside outer pocket and material lining the other pockets that allows for Velcro attachments works great and are thoughtful features.Pros:- It is a very large 45L pack that will accommodate a wide range of essentials. With one main compartment, a pocket on the front and back, water bottle pockets, and a top-lid that has a pocket on top and underneath.- There are two grab handles: one above the shoulder harness, and one inconspicuously built into the front of the top-lid.- The top-lid has two pockets, and within those pockets are zippered compartments with key keeper hooks.- Has hook-and-loop laser cut Molle/PALS loops on the inside of the outer pocket, as well as a stuff-it pouch on the outside of that pocket. I’ll post a picture that shows some of the Molle pouches I have attached. The pocket also has straps that allow it to convert to a large Kangaroo type pouch for stuffing awkward sized items that you want easy access to without opening the pack.- There is a compartment on the back of the pack, below the shoulder harness, that completely opens so that it folds flat. You can attach a number of accessories in that pocket via hook and loop.- The back of the pocket under the shoulder harness has a rigid back panel so that contents within won’t poke against your back and the weight of the contents will be properly transferred to the harness and hip belt.- The hip-belt is generously padded and covers the iliac crest of the hip bones which helps carry the load on your hips. I am glad they went this route instead of using a waist strap.- Generously sized exterior water bottle pockets are large enough to hold a quart-sized water bottle.- There is an internal 15-inch laptop sleeve that you can remove if you do not wish to use it.- Very well-padded straps and back-panel.- It has a molded foam base that allows the pack to stand up on its own.- It has four exterior compression straps that allow for proper balance and weight transfer to the harness and hip belt.- The interior is a lighter color than the exterior, making it easier to locate specific contents within.- Comes with sternum-strap to help keep the shoulder harness from sliding off your shoulders.- It is made of durable heavy-duty nylon materials and the stitching appears robust and durable.- Lockable beefy Zippers and the zipper pulls don’t jingle.- It is hydration bladder compatible with dual hose pass-through ports.Cons (because of the price-point, I am deducting one star for these):- It’s a bit hefty at 5-pounds empty.- It is a one-size fits many and the shoulder harness is not adjustable for the height of the user’s torso. It would have been nice if the harness could be moved up or down a few inches or if the pack came in different torso sizes. I am 5’8” with an average sized torso, and after adjusting the load-lifter straps that hook the pack to the shoulder straps, where I found they connected to the pack was a bit higher than I’d like and that would be ideal for the most comfortable carry.- Although the rigid back-panel is great at keeping contents from poking against your back and transferring the load, it is not very breathable, and you’ll sweat a lot in hot environments.- The Rapid Access Tab is a bit gimmicky to me and not something I can see myself using.Despite my nitpicks, it is a really nice pack that is great for inconspicuous travel, mission specific tasks, a bugout bag, or on the range. It is admittedly pricey, but Vertx is a well established and well-respected brand in the tactical world that makes high quality gear that is regularly used and trusted by government agencies.
