Being a fat person myself, I was totally main character FelipΓ©. His thoughts and up bringing were similar to mine growing up. It was a delight to relate. Even those who can’t, will still find insight and will also eat up the cozy confined journey of FelipΓ© and Caio’s 15 days of break. Where they get to know each other and how FelipΓ© grows as a character is a treat to read. In the wrong hands, he could have made the characters basic but author Vitor balances the story so well causing you to care for these kids.

How can 15 days turn your whole life around? Well, Felipe gets to know the answer when his neighbour is coming to stay with them for 15 days during their vacation.

The book was original and perfect in representation. The main character is fat and shy and the sweetest person in the world.
And I loved that the MC is fat because we don't see that representation enough, especially not in young adult books! Felipe's experiences about his weight and the constant judgement and stares hit very close to me as I experience them too.
It is not easy to live through that, especially when one is young and surrounded by kids who has no filter and say whatever is on their minds regardless if it will hurt someone or not.

So when his long time crush, Caio suddenly became a constant presence in his life I was rooting for him to figure it out and be brave enough to take a step out of his comfort zonea nd get the boy!

The little moments between Felipe and Caio were everything in this book. They all were part of the love that was slowly building between them. Their nightly conversations about anything and everything, their confessions, their silly times together, it all were the building blocks of something special, that we only call the wonder of young love or first love. 15 days seem like such a short time but it actually meant the world to these two boys to discocer their fondness for each other is actually a lot more than just friendship.

I also really loved that Felipe was going to therapy and it was a very normal thing for him to do. Like, he didn't go because he was sick or he felt wrong. He went so that he had a place to share his feelings and never get worse! It is such an inventive idea for me because in my culture it is still a stigma to go to therapy.

All in all, this book was beautiful and sweet. It showed the power of friendship, honesty and young love. It was heartwarming and made me smile a lot.
My only problem was that it ended. I wanted more of Felipe and Caio. Their story in this book ended at the very beginning of their relationship and I just want to see them taking on the world together.
So because of the lack of angst and the too fast ending it is 4 stars for me!

I fell in love with Felipe and his inner monologue, the pop culture references, and even the far fetched thoughts, like thinking his mum had been abducted by aliens when he found the flat empty 🀣 I laughed so much during this book, as well as feeling sad for how he's treated by some people in his life and the dent it makes on his self confidence. I was routing for Felipe from the start and just love his story on finding his inner bravery. On another note Felipe's mum, Rita is an absolute Gem! We all need a Rita in our lives.
