this is a wonderful compact set, that did away with several clunky pieces, including two slicing machines, and is threatening the continued presence of another mandolin in our kitchen. this has replaced two juicers, a spiral cutting machine, two slicers, gave me back a julliene device, and a multiple kitchenaide attachments for slicing and juicing... all purchased over the years to try to do what this one set accomplishes with ease. the bowl catches and stores all cut items, instead of shooting food across the counter. the attachment pieces are quickly exchanged with no fear of getting hurt by the blades, and snap snuggly into place. and the whole kit takes up so much less space! i haven't seen any cracks or anything with using it for almost a month now, so it seems quite sturdy. the only downside is only one slicing thickness blade, which is why our other mandolin hasn't been donated yet... would have been better to have at least two, one for thick cuts and one for thin, which is why i couldn't quite give this a full five stars.
