This is incredibly easy to use and provides really accurate readings that integrate will with the other Nokia devices we use (watch and scale). My wife and I both use this blood pressure monitor with no hassles in our apps. BTW the Nokia app is much better than it used to be, so watch the dates on the critical reviews. When they took over for Withings there definitely were some growing pains but they have their act together, particularly the weight integration with MFP.
The band comes with four AAA Duracell batteries. Apparently it doesn't recharge. It has a microUSB port, but I do not know of its purpose and haven't touched it. Setup was easy like most of these things are these days. I opened the app, hit the + Device button, turned the BPM's power button on, and hit "Next" a few times.
Then I put the cuff on and it checked my blood pressure three times before telling me my results. That's the proper way to do it. A lot of machines only do it once to save time, but that's not because the machines are super awesome. Human blood pressure moves around and needs to be averaged. Obviously the app remembers your results so you can check them. You can also add notes and cross compare to activity, sleep, heart rate, diet, if you've got more Nokia stuff. If not, you can still do it if you think. And I think this is the most important aspect.
Checking it every day has really opened my eyes to some stuff I didn't realize. How much sleep I get. How much I exercise. What I eat. These things have some real impact on my blood pressure and probably my general state of health day to day. Sure, you knew this, but did you see it in real time, day to day? Say someone really pissed me off for some reason. If I fixate on that my health suffers. I never actually saw this, and now I know just how important it is to laugh it off. Also, my freaking multivitamin. It makes a difference in my blood pressure 12 hours later! Really!
Anyway, for a 'smart' BPM, this is the least expensive one, it works great, and it feels like a well made product. You can't recharge it but so what? The ones that aren't smart are not in the same category because you're not really going to write down results every day. You know I'm right.

Update: It's working fine after a week but I've noticed that I can only get this to work with one phone. My wife and I both use a lot of Nokia products for health tracking and this BPM is like the smart watches, not the wifi scales. It's still usable, but now I really have to wait for my wife to get home so she can initiate my blood pressure test. We both use Note 8 phones and I don't think it's the phone's fault. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.
This device is super accurate and works very quickly. Once setup, you create a user profile in the app (or tie to an existing one if you are already using the same product line for other things like thermometers or health scales).
To take your measurement, simply hit the on button. The cuff will send a message to your phone and you select who it is for and how you want it taken (Just one measurement, average of 3, average of 5). Within seconds of completion, you’re all set! It not only gives you the number, but also whether it’s high, low, mid, or very high.
My only wish is that the cuff would work without needing to use the app to really start it. Ideally, I’d love to see it take a reading, then alert you after as to the fact that a record was taken and let you assign it to a person (more like the thermometer).
Seeing the trend over time is super helpful for me, and the main reason I bought it in the first place, so job well done in that arena.
It’s also a pretty sleek design. I don’t mind leaving it out on the counter, since it has a pretty design, unlike other products on the market.
Try it out for yourself. You won’t regret it!
Gigantic waste of time. For me also very frustrating. My doctor wanted two weeks of daily measurements. I lost one week on a brand new device, where I succeeded to get only two measurements.
I suspect the problem is with the app (the device seems to be working fine - turns on, connects to Bluetooth, ready to go, and can be kicked off to take a measurement). The app needs to be re-designed to include a diagnostics page, and to provide a button to "take a new measurement". The button they have now for "take a new measurement" allows you to enter a measurement instead of kicking off taking a new measurement. Apparently designed for the app to be a logging app, not an app that controls a device. $100 is a pretty hefty price for a logging app.
