The New York Yankees secured a sweep against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday and Anthony Rizzo played a leading role in the victory, going 4-for-4 and hitting his first home run since May 20.
After the game, Rizzo made headlines by praising Taylor Swift after switching his walk-up song to "...Ready For It?"
When asked about the change, Rizzo hailed Swift, acknowledging her positive impact on the economy in every city she visits.
"Yeah, a little Taylor Swift," Rizzo said.
"It's her summer, really. She's helping the economy in every city she goes. Yeah, that was good."
This unusual display of appreciation for the pop star's music in the world of Major League Baseball caught the attention of many.
Rizzo's performance in June had been challenging, with his batting average at .131, an on-base percentage of .209, and a slugging percentage of .148 before Sunday's game, while his OPS stood at a disappointing .356.
Swift has been on a tour across the United States, showcasing her extensive repertoire. In May, she performed at MetLife Stadium in New York, completely selling out the venue for three consecutive nights.
Meanwhile, the New York Yankees, currently positioned fourth in the AL East with a record of 53-47, have not achieved the same level of success on the charts as Swift has in 2023.
