Mary T Couples - TripAdvisor review

Staff were excellent in gold lounge and reception hotel facilities far better than expected although a little disappointed with the building work being carried out on the dining hall and the swimming pool would not have stayed if we had known this was being carried out as my partner has walking difficulties and has found walking to the pool a hardship at times

Perfect stay!

We have been travelling to Dubai for several years but this was the first time we stayed at Fairmont the Palm. The hotel is on par with other 5* providers in Dubai. We had a sea facing room, which does get noise coming into room over Friday- Sunday into early hours due to loud music played at beach clubs nearby. Unfortunately one of the pools was also shut for maintenance so it made the family pool over crowded. On the whole, our experience from start to finish was good. And thats thanks to its staff. I would like to thank the following individuals in the Gold lounge that made our stay perfect. Roju, the first & last face on our Fairmont Gold journey, thanks for the warm welcome & bidding us farewell like friends. Gilbert, who went to great lengths to ensure there was no cross contamination in the food served to my son due to his food allergies. (Gilbert your hand writing really is beautiful, you should collaborate with Microsoft & create your own font!). And also other members of the Gold lounge team including Aashis, Allen, Khain, Myint for their friendly & courteous service. No matter how busy they were, they always looked after you. And we forgot to say, our anniversary cake was lovely, thank you! We would also like to thank the chefs in the Flo Kitchen. A special thanks to chef Krishna who made my sons dinners from scratch due to his food allergies. Krishna my son really enjoyed your cooking & he has your photo up on his wall, next to others like Messi, Ronaldo and Lewis Hamilton! Also a special thanks to Sachin & chef Abbal & another member of kitchen team who i think was the head perhaps, i can't remember his name but it looked like he worked out. Also thanks to the house keeping team who worked tirelessly through the day. I hope Fairmont looks after you all.

Amazing hotel and the staff, especially Aung at the reception, were very welcoming and helpful. The half board option is fantastic as you can choose between lunch or dinner every day. Breakfast is good and the Seagrill and Indian restaurants on site were amazing. Location is excellent and there is a golf buggy shuttle up and down the boardwalk to access a lot of bars and restaurants. Will definitely be staying again. Sad to leave. Thank-you The Fairmont for a wonderful holiday.

FiveQ Families - TripAdvisor review

This is an honest review from repeat visitors who have loved the hotel in the past, have recommended it to many people and were really looking forward to our stay. It gives us no pleasure to write this review. If you’ve booked a stay within the next few months then I’d seriously think about staying elsewhere. We stayed one night only because we had to. The next morning we left and checked in somewhere else even though we had already booked and paid for our stay. The management spoke with us but unfortunately the problems with this hotel are extensive and wouldn’t have been solvable within the period of our stay. In response to our feedback they have offered that if we make another booking we can book a basic room and they’ll upgrade us to a sea view room which we always book but actually the rooms were not acceptable for me to waste any more money on even if it is at a lower rate. Flow kitchen is under refurbishment and the temporary Flow ‘restaurant’ as they refer to it is a tent outside the adjoining ballroom. It looks and feels awful. Aside from the strange set-up the breakfast itself was awful. FTP have always been great for GF food, on this occasion for breakfast I was offered bread sweating in a bag or gf pasta. The chef did come out and kindly made me some GF porridge. Gone is the amazing GF area of the buffet with various gf pastry’s and other options available along with the GF toaster for toasting bread. And my family who are not gf also found the breakfast poor. The rooms are dated, dark, worn. The towels are rough and discoloured. The furniture in the rooms is stained in places, discoloured and needs serious attention. Our room smelt of mould, our daughters’ room didn’t it was fine. Both rooms had odd fake eyelashes which hadn’t been vacuumed up, ours also had hair in the bathroom. Our rooms just felt dirty and uncomfortable with staining on the bed skirt also a blood stain in our daughters’ bathroom. The outside area looked like there had been an explosion. The adult pool has closed for emergency maintenance resulting in serious overcrowding. The loungers are side by side and head to toe crammed in at all pools. The pool areas are scruffy and resemble that of a 2/3 star hotel. It looks like a junk yard.. furniture everywhere and my husband was horrified when we came across pallet furniture - once again not something I’d expect to see in a 5 star hotel. Blow fish was previously our favourite place for drinks, but this now looks run down and scruffy, although the drinks and chips we had there were good. They seem to really like Astro turf adding to that cheap feeling around the temporary cramped adult pools (residents pools South and North). Another new addition are the sweat stained bean bags scattered about. Sun loungers although replaced a couple of years ago, look scruffy and worn. Cabana frames crammed in just the metal frames no curtains adding to the junk yard feel. We could not face having to sit/lay around any of the pools, I really don’t want to be sitting in the laps of/ shoulder to shoulder with people I don’t know, there was no way this would have been a relaxing holiday for us. We felt so uncomfortable we decided to forget about the money we had paid to be there and leave. We did however return for dinner at Little Miss India and BA which were as usual both amazing. We are so thankful we had only booked a few days at FTP on this trip, if we had booked two weeks like we have in the past it would have been a disaster for us. We are only posting this review because we SO wish we’d had the heads up with a truthful review giving us the opportunity to book somewhere else rather than wasting our money! We are loyal Platinum Accor members and can honestly say I’ve never seen a Fairmont hotel managed like this. So disappointing. The hotel definitely does not feel like 5 star!! There are so many lovey hotels in Dubai which do provide the 5 star service/standards/comfort you would expect from a 5 star rated hotel at the same or a lower price point.

More of one thing to say that was bad
