Let’s start with the positives. There were no bed bugs. That was a surprising win. The room was awful. Dismal. Terrible. I have stayed in better rooms at backpackers. Small and very basic. Tiled floor, 1 plastic chair, and a bed. But that’s not the worst of it. The location is in a part of town with a lot of working girls. You can’t help but wonder how often the room has been used as a place of business. But that’s not the worst of it. The location is in a busy and noisy part of town. The windows are double glazed which helps a bit with the noise. But if you close the windows you have to turn on the aircon, which is like sleeping next to a chainsaw cutting through metal. But that’s not the worst of it. Somebody somewhere was smoking the entire night we were there. I don’t know how, but every 30 mins or so the room would be filled with cigarette smoke. The only options were to open the windows or turn on the aircon. So we didn’t really sleep at all. We originally had paid for 3 nights on booking.com but left after 1. The worst part is being charged over 300 Franks per night for an absolute craphole.

We apologize if the urban location’s vibrancy, due to our central position in the Pâquis district, fell short of providing the tranquility you desired. Our team is dedicated to ensuring a comfortable stay, and we provide complimentary earplugs at the reception for added noise comfort. Regarding the smoke disturbance, while our property is smoke-free, we empathize with your discomfort and are troubled that this occurred during your stay. Our pricing reflects the demand in the city, our central location and the facilities we offer, including free public transport and Wi-Fi access. We take all feedback seriously as it is vital for our continuous improvement. Upon your earlier check out nothing has been mentioned to our reception. Clean rooms, central and perfect distance to most of what we came for. Nothing extra, could have had at least something to hang our jacket or handbags on. The district is quite shady, with prostitution. But if you don’t bother to glance they are friendly and harmless.

Disappointing

I spent 3 nights here with my adult daughter. We chose it because it is close to the station and was within our budget. The room was very clean and it was quiet. My daughter found the bed too hard - though it was fine for me. It is very basic and I was disappointed - management could do more - we only had one small pillow each, only one chair, no cereal bowls, no tea towel or washing up liquid, no sharp knife, not even a bottle opener or cork screw. Considering there is a fridge, microwave and kitchen sink I would have expected more utensils. We asked for extra pillows on the second night and they were delivered to our room quite quickly. Checking in was fine and I can’t fault the service. The room looked out onto the back of the Novotel and some run down flats. Not a pretty sight. If you are out all day and just want somewhere to sleep it is adequate.
