We were very happy with our stay at the Sofitel. The service was top notch, food was delicious, excellent housekeeping and helpful concierge. Beautiful building. The only negative is that our room felt a bit dated and had a weird bathroom layout. But id stay here again in a heartbeat. Notably, last year we stayed at the Waldorf. While you can find no fault with the Waldorf, it’s twice the price. And the Sofitel was a little more “hopping” than the Waldorf which was very very quiet and mostly foreign (non American) guests. So as between the two hotels, the Sofitel is a much better value and was more accessible/ warmer than the Waldorf.

Great location

We arrived around 10:30am, left our luggage and returned around 4:30-5 to pick up our keys. Butler was not available at that time and he stopped by our room an hour later to leave his business card. That was the only time we had any interaction with him. Hotel is in the central location and quiet. We booked a prestige suite and it was nice and big. A little dusty and we had to call housekeeping because curtains would not close and bathtub not draining. Even though bed had mattress topper all was old and pillows were getting flat in few hours and bed/topper was sagging and lumpy. Towels were very nice and big. We had to call to receive complimentary bottle of water daily even though we asked for it to be delivered ahead of time. Staff were very welcoming in the lobby. We tried to use jacuzzi at the pool area but it was not separated from the pool and water was cold. PS. According to previous reviews there are welcome drinks and chocolate during turned down service. We received none of that. Same as a birthday celebration that we mentioned twice.

Nice hotel and friendly staff. The fine dining restaurant dinner was excellent, the breakfast buffet had a good selection, although repeated everyday the same but you could always order off the menu at no additional cost. Also the bar food was very good. The only thing that was not to my liking is that the hotel is right next to a coffee shop and just like in many places in Amsterdam there is a strong smell of weed at every corner.

If you're looking for the very, very best hotel Amsterdam has to offer, look no further. The Grand is exquisite!!! We just spent 3 nights there earlier this month, and were amazed. The property is extremely luxurious (not to mention fascinating, due to the long and rich history). The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in, the suite was spotless and very well-appointed, the amenities were luxurious, the view was splendid, the food delicious, the spa a haven for relaxation. It's also very impressive how you are right in the middle of bustling Amsterdam, yet as soon as you enter through the historic courtyard, you feel as if you're in a highly exclusive oasis of both peace and luxury. I could go on and on about how magical this hotel is. However, I especially want to mention the team members and their service. Every person we came across was absolutely delightful, extremely professional and made sure every single one of our needs and desires were catered to. Special thanks must go to Zsa Zsa, Stefan, Niels, Filippo and Luis for making our stay unforgettable! We just can't wait to come back! All the best from Michael and Emilie!

I recently stayed at the Sofitel Legend Amsterdam and overall, I had a great experience. The room was fantastic—spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The staff were incredibly nice and professional, making me feel welcome throughout my stay. However, I do have a couple of suggestions. Room service could be more attentive, as I ordered a bottle of water twice and it never arrived. Additionally, it would be beneficial to offer complimentary water in the rooms, as the only option available was in the mini bar and came with a charge. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the breakfast. It was enormous and delicious, featuring a vast buffet with a variety of options, all complemented by excellent and friendly service. The hotel’s location is also a major plus, being centrally located in Amsterdam and providing easy access to all the main sights. Despite the minor issues, I would definitely recommend the Sofitel Legend Amsterdam for a pleasant and convenient stay.
