We had a fantastic experience in Moorea while staying at the Sofitel Kia Ora hotel. The only reason why I'm giving it 7 points is two fold: (1) at least the over water bungalows need a refresh. A lick of paint and a bit of modernization would be great. Overall they felt rundown. Not to an extreme, but definitely for the cost of the hotel it didn't feel like a luxury bungalow. Other than that, maintenance in the restaurant, pool area, bars, etc., was great., and (2) the prices at the restaurants and bars are unjustifiable. We stayed at another 5 start location in Bora Bora (different hotel chain), and it felt that the prices were more reasonable. For context I live in the Silicon Valley area in California, and Bora Bora felt similarly priced for food and drinks but the Sofitel prices were higher. Especially this hotel being right next to Tahiti with better access to supplies does not justify why the extra cost.

We had a garden bungalow, which was spacious, clean, comfortable, had coffee machine, toiletries, hair-dryer etc. Booked ATV & Jetski tours from the tour desk, both highly recommended. Lovely beach with reef, collect snoorkle, mask and fins from dive shop. Great staff always friendly.

Our stay at the Sofitel was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was great. Our over the water bungalow was very nice it did show a few signs of wear but in all it was beautiful. Thanks for a great stay.

We had a great stay. The resort is tired and could do with a renovation. Food was pretty ordinary, breakfast was fine. Pool area needs to be redone tired and pool furniture needs updating. Some service around the pool would be nice. We were there for 3 nights and that was the perfect stay for us. We were ready to move on. Would I go back - yes but only for a few nights and would want the same room.
