look at your mattress!!! But don't complain, it will cost you.

Scam charges after checkout. Do not complain about the how dirty the bed is after you remove the sheets and look at the mattress when you find it covered with stains, they will retaliate with fake charges after you have checked out. Look at your mattress!

We had an excellent accommodation at Novotel hotel, on alkotmány út. It's a family friendly hotel, with great transportation availabilities. The breakfast is superb, the staff were very helpful all the time and ready to give an extra effort. Also the reception was outstanding and really helpful. The restaurant has a wide selection of delicious meal. Overall we had a great time and we can only recommend to stay there. Also at the lobby there is an are for kids and it used great for younger children.

Disappointing stay

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were given our rooms, and upon entering, immediately could tell that someone had smoked there. We are very sensitive to the stench of cigarettes, and even though all of the rooms in the hotel are supposedly non-smoking rooms, we were told that many guests don't care, and smoke, and the hotel does nothing about it. After waiting a long time, we were offered new rooms. The rooms smelled fine, but we soon discovered that the air conditioning didn't work, and it was summer in Budapest, with outside temperatures near 30°C. Each person we spoke with had a different reason why the air conditioning didn't work, so of course, we couldn't believe anyone or trust what they said. The hotel was fully booked, so we slept through the first night very poorly, as the rooms were uncomfortably hot. When told that we could switch rooms (again) the next day, it took hours to come up with a person who could handle this. Clearly the staff are either not trained properly, or they are simply incompetent. It is very nice to have friendly staff, but if they can't properly cater to guests, what is the point? We had booked including breakfast, which was probably a mistake as well, as the quality of the food was very poor.

Returning after 5 years - and it is still a very good hotel. Feb 2024

Been here a few times ago - last time probably in 2019 - it used to be a very good hotel - one that I really liked, plus it was convenient. Now , after 5 years , I did return in February 2024 - for a single night this time - but I'm glad to say that it is the same , very good quality that I was remembering. Front desk staff , very helpful and very polite - same thing is valid for the lobby bar bartender - and they've got on tap the special lager from the Cece Brewery - a very tasty beer from my perspective. They've got a pool - did not use it this time, but it is there and is still functioning , based on the amount of people I saw with bathrobes and towels. Room - very comfortable - very clean - coffee corner was there - nothing to complain about ..bathroom with the walk-in shower - so indeed everything that was needed was there ... Room on the 7th floor so it wasn't noisy at all. Breakfast just great - with a lot of excellent choices - from Hungarian specials to more classic, international, choices of cereals and other things.... but for sure there was something for everybody. Overall - a very good experience - glad to see that it is still a very good hotel I recommend you check it out.

Very cool and good environment at Novotel Budapest. Definitely recommend this for a good beer and good sports watch on tv too . A great place to be to enjoy the even ok by at Budapest and not to be missed. The pizza and salad is delicious and can try the chicken breast
