MS. KENTISH-ROGERS FROM ANGUILLA TO PARTICIPATE IN 2024 UK GENERAL ELECTION ASSESSMENT MISSION In total, 32 Commonwealth parliamentarians will travel to eight constituencies across the UK to observe and assess the electoral process. The teams will visit polling stations and speak to election officials and political representatives to see how the election is run in those locations. At the end of the Mission, the observers will make recommendations to strengthen the election process in future UK General Elections. The teams will issue a preliminary statement on Friday 5 July with initial observations. This will be followed by a detailed report, containing findings and recommendations, published two months after the General Election. Both will be shared with the Electoral Commission and Returning Officers to support their work in analysing the 2024 General Election. “Our core mission is to strengthen parliamentary democracy and therefore we regularly assess and issue recommendations to improve the electoral process across the British Islands and Mediterranean. We are delighted to invite Commonwealth parliamentarians to participate in one of our biggest election missions ever this July for the UK General Election.”

Simply titled “50”, this film recalls the journey of the Anguilla Summer Festival. “50” does not merely highlight past winners and images of revelry and mas, but it takes the time to illustrate the root of why we celebrate the Anguilla Summer Festival. The film opens with a reenactment of enslaved Africans arriving on Anguilla’ shores some 400-years ago. It then uses archival footage of Anguillian culture and past summer festivals before showing highlights of the island’s modern interpretation of the festival. It is a true walk through the evolution of Anguilla’s greatest show. #anguilla #summer #festival #thefamilyreunion #thegoldenjubilee

KING CHARLES III CORONATION MEDAL This week I was honoured to attend the medal ceremony, in my capacity as Premier (Ag), as HE The Governor Julia Crouch OBE presented the King Charles III Coronation Medal to qualifying members of the Anguillan Fire and Rescue Service, His Majesty’s Prison Service, and the Royal Anguilla Police Force. The Governor stated that, “this medal provides a fitting recognition of your dedicated public service and sacrifice. Each of you are true heroes and we owe you sincere gratitude and thanks for your continued efforts to ensure our safety” In a fitting tribute the final medal presented was to Caleb and Ethan Kendall, the sons of Prison Office Nigel Kendall who sadly passed away recently. On behalf of the Government and people of Anguilla, I take this opportunity to thank all uniformed officers for their service.
