Talent assessment and measurement is key for identification of top talent and developing them for building a pipeline for the future. The most common method is competency based assessment with psychometric profiling along with 360 degree feedback.Using performance scores and potential assessment talent is planted against various development metrics and IDPs created with clear architecture for development journey with milestones for 6 to 9 months. This is inbuilt with regular check in sessions, interval based coaching, action learning projects and sometimes work with mentors.. Power Imbalances and Workplace Bullying In his insightful book "Images of Organization," Gareth Morgan shed light on the complex dynamics between professional groups within organisations. One salient point he raised is that certain groups can become empowered at the expense of others, creating an imbalance of power and influence. The corollary of this, as Morgan notes, is that complaints and accusations do not necessarily hold equal merit. Those from favoured or powerful groups may find their voices amplified, while those from less influential circles face an uphill battle to have their grievances acknowledged and addressed. This dynamic can have profound implications for the handling of workplace bullying incidents. When the accused belongs to a dominant professional group, there is a risk that their actions may be minimised, rationalised, or even ignored, while the targets – often from less powerful quarters – struggle to have their complaints taken seriously. We've seen this play out time and again, with instances of bullying behaviour being swept under the rug or dismissed as "personality clashes" when perpetrated by those in positions of authority or from prestigious professional backgrounds. Conversely, those on the receiving end, frequently from more marginalised groups, can find themselves doubly victimised – first by the bullying itself, and then by the institutional failure to recognise and address their suffering. As employees, colleagues, and leaders, we must remain vigilant against such insidious power imbalances. We must foster workplace cultures where complaints of bullying are investigated thoroughly and impartially, regardless of the parties involved. We must empower and amplify the voices of the vulnerable, ensuring that their experiences are validated and their concerns are heard.
