Display Banners

General Guidelines

Please note all advertising is subject to editorial approval

  • All creatives must have a border

  • No extensive blinking or flashing elements

  • No expandable adverts

  • No ad can spawn or pop from another ad unit

  • No automatic downloads or executable files

  • No spyware removal ads, pop blockers or spam filters

  • No frequency capping through creative as this will prevent the campaign completing as booked

  • If artwork is geotargeted at creative level we cannot guarantee the availability of screenshots

  • Please note that we no longer accept Flash Files

  • If all specified ad units are not available, please advise your sales manager at the time of booking as this will affect the available inventory

Third Party Serving

  • All third-party adverts must be supplied with images of the creative and destination URLs

    • This is required for editorial approval of content.

    • Failure to supply back up files may delay the start of your campaign

  • Any changes to artwork are subject to editorial approval

  • Any planned change to live (approved) artwork must be communicated to OUP, and new back up files provided. Editorial approval must be confirmed before any changes are made.

Premium Display Banners

  • Super Leaderboard: 970 x 90 px

  • Half Page Unit: 300 x 600 px

  • Homepage MPU: 300 x 250 px

  • Mobile Leaderboard: 320 x 50 px

Keyword / Contextual banners

  • Leaderboard:  728 x 90 pixels

  • MPU: 300 x 250 pixels

Interstitial banner

  • MPU: 300 x 250 pixels

Weight

  • Recommended file size: 40KB 

    • Maximum file size: 150KB

URLs

  • For JPG/GIF files – single click URL through only

  • If multiple click-throughs are required, please supply a third party HTML5 file

    • Advert must be mapped, and the click throughs implemented

Other guidance on HTML5 files

  • If providing artwork/creative files, please ensure that all elements are referenced within the code e.g., creative1 / creative2

  • Please only provide files/creative that have been referenced within the code

  • All HTML5 creatives must be supplied with images of the creative and destination URLs.

    • This is required for editorial approval of content.

    • Failure to supply back up files may delay the start of your campaign

  • For HTML5 files which are served via third party tags we can accept files up to a maximum size of 150KB

Animation

  • Maximum Total Animation: 15 seconds

  • Looping Limit: 3 loops

  • Frame rate must be no more than 18fps
