SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was shot and injured by an Orange County sheriff's deputy after authorities found two people dead at a mobile home park in San Juan Capistrano Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. in the 32000 block of Alipaz Street, near Del Obispo Street, after deputies responded to a domestic assault call. Video from AIR7 showed deputies and two patrol vehicles in an area cordoned off by crime tape.

When they arrived, they found two people dead inside a home - only identified as a 77-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman. They also found a dead dog.

The grim discovery prompted a search for a suspect, who was eventually located along a bike path in the area.

During a news conference Tuesday, Sgt. Matthew Parrish provided details about how they found him: "Our dispatchers updated them that there was a bloody male chasing a maintenance worker in that same neighborhood.... Shortly after that person was located, an officer-involved shooting occurred."

The 41-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Investigators are looking into the connection between the suspect and victims.
