Moses Funeral Home

After nearly 70 years of continuous operation, Moses Funeral Home in Pamplico, South Carolina permanently closed. Local newspapers list funerals dating as far back as 1952, with the last one in 2018. When the original owner died in 1985, he passed the funeral home down to his son, who was also a funeral director. He operated the business until his death in 2018. At that time, the funeral home permanently closed, and a co-owner reopened another funeral home in a new facility under a different name a short distance away. Throughout the years, the building went through numerous additions and renovations leaving it feeling like a maze of rooms when you walk through. One unique feature that stands out is the glass room in the chapel, which may be a “cry room” or quiet room for babies or young children.

  1. This funeral home appears to be in pretty good shape still. The co-owner(s) could have very well renovated this home vs opening a new one a short distance away or keep this one and still open a new one. I wonder what’s the plan for the items and hearses left behind. Those things could be donated rather than left there. It seems they could be useful to another funeral home if they don’t have any needs for them.

  2. Seems the owners or heirs need to have an “estate sale” and get those useful items out into the world for others to use. Always seems unfortunate when an old local business ends.
