The 826 Quarterly Vol. 28 release party!

‘Twas a crisp Saturday night in the Mission when we welcomed folks from far and wide into our Mission Center for a celebratory (and cookie-filled) evening. What were we celebrating, you ask? The release of the 826 Quarterly, volume 28 of course!

The 826 Quarterly Vol. 28 release party! As per tradition, this year’s release party took place during LitCrawl — an annual celebration in the Mission which culminates Litquake, a month-long festival of literary events. Our party showcased readings from seven of the authors that were featured in our newest publication, ranging in age from six to 16. Their words were simultaneously fun and forceful, examining topics from rainbow unicorns to the future of our society. One of our writers even proclaimed that, “Breaking news is now bacon news,” transforming everything we thought we knew.

The readings were accompanied by a table piled with everyone’s favorite night-time snack: milk (dairy filled and dairy free) and cookies.

The 826 Quarterly Vol. 28 release party! We were so excited to see the huge support from those familiar with our community and those new to it, and loved to see such a packed room to listen to our students’ voices. A special thank you to Sonja Kari and Vickie Vértiz, the illustrator and foreword  writer of this year’s 826 Quarterly, respectively. Without their hard work this would not have blossomed into the wonderful piece of art that it is!

If you weren’t able to stop by, but are interested in reading some of the wonderful pieces from our newest edition of the Quarterly, you can pick up a copy at one of our stores or buy it online. As the buzzing atmosphere of the release party suggested, we’re sure that you’ll be inspired by what it contains!
