Ms. Anna Pepito is our October Teacher of the Month!

We are delighted to announce our October 2023 Teacher of the Month! Ms. Anna Pepito is a 1st and 2nd grade teacher at El Dorado Elementary School and has been teaching for thirteen years. She is being recognized for her passion, work ethic, and commitment to her students, school, and community.

Ms. Pepito brings a bit of magic and fun to her work—she’s the the Mary Poppins of teachers, if you will. She was willing to change from being exclusively a 2nd grade teacher, to being a 1st and 2nd grade teacher. According to a colleague, within two weeks, every single one of her students, old and new, were learning rigorous content at every moment of the day.

Students feel how much she cares for them so they come excited to learn as much as possible during the school day. She is always ready to help a student achieve their academic and behavioral goals. The love for learning is so contagious. One first grade student says, “I love Ms. Pepito because she keeps us safe and [she is] very nice to us.”

One lesson that stands out is when Ms. Pepito read her kiddos a letter by “The Gingerbread Lady” from the Gingerbread Man story. A colleague recounts she had 23 students completely on the edge of their seats during this lesson.

“The kids were fired up to write her back immediately and all of the students were passionately writing, regardless of their abilities, this letter for a long period of time. And excited to share their writing with each other,” one colleague says. 

These moments of magic are a regular experience in her classroom. 

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Pepito brings in outside providers and experiences that the whole school community benefits from, as well as being an excellent collaborator and supporter to her teacher colleagues.

As an outstanding educator, Ms. Pepito’s considerate and consistent support for her classroom and community at El Dorado Elementary School are worthy of tremendous admiration.
