Mr. Johnson is our January Teacher of the Month!

We are delighted to announce David Johnson as our January 2023 Teacher of the Month! Mr. Johnson is a 6th grade English and Language Arts teacher at Buena Vista Horace Mann Community School and has been teaching for over 10 years. He is being recognized for his passion, work ethic, and commitment to his students, school, and community.

Mr. Johnson is dedicated to providing the best education he can for his students. One of Mr. Johnson’s colleagues shared that he “supports all students to succeed and champions their right to a high quality education. He wants them to be their best selves, and encourages them to respect themselves, each other, and the adults in the room consistently.”

Mr. Johnson’s unique teaching strategies always keep learning fun and engaging. He recently created a Canva project to help students explore a different tech platform and create travel brochures encouraging people to visit ancient Egypt. One student shared, “He’s super chill and I like learning about ancient Egypt.”

In addition, Mr. Johnson provides an extraordinary amount of support to his community at Buena Vista Horace Mann. One colleague shared, “Mr. Johnson does a ton around BVHM, from coaching volleyball to supporting yearbook to leading a student trip to Washington D.C.”

As an outstanding educator, Mr. Johnson’s thoughtful and consistent support for his classroom and community at Buena Vista Horace Mann are worthy of tremendous respect and admiration.
