Mr. Hightower and Ms. Medrano are our May Teachers of the Month!
We are delighted to announce Ryan Hightower and Nicole Medrano as our May 2023 Teachers of the Month! Mr. Hightower and Ms. Medrano are both English and Language Arts teachers at The Academy at McAteer.
Mr. Hightower has been teaching 11th and 12th grade English and Language Arts for six years. Currently, he teaches three sections of American Literature, one section of Advanced Placem
ent English Language and Composition, and a mixed-grade level social justice elective entitled Peer Resources. Ms. Medrano is in her first year teaching 10th grade English and Language Arts, along with teaching a mixed-grade English Language Development course. They are both being recognized for their passion and work ethic, as well as their commitment to their students, school, and community.
Mr. Hightower is beloved by his students and respected by his peers, making him an integral part of the “Wolfpack.” His commitment to student learning and engagement is unmatched, and his willingness to go above and beyond on behalf of The Academy at McAteer students sets him apart from his peers. Students love Mr. Hightower’s quirkiness and understand that while he will always bring the humor, he also holds them to a high standard. Mr. Hightower challenges students to be the best versions of themselves and supports them in their efforts to grow into those selves.
Ms. Medrano is committed to building relationships with students and ensuring their growth, especially in writing. She makes the greatest efforts to ensure a warm and inviting classroom where students can be themselves. As a first-year teacher, Ms. Medrano has already made a positive impact on students’ lives and will continue to do so for years to come.
As outstanding educators, Mr. Hightower and Ms. Medrano’s considerate and consistent support for their classroom and community at The Academy at McAteer are worthy of tremendous admiration.
