Do you dream of fighting dragons, casting powerful spells, and trawling through dungeons full of traps and intrigue? If you're a fan of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, or fantasy books in general, then this might be the workshop for you. Using the lens and structure of the popular tabletop role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons, students will explore how to write for a fantasy setting, and implement their writings into a real game. They will practice creating complex, relatable, and compelling characters, building a fantasy world of their own imagination, and learn how to create an interesting plot. At the end of the workshop, students will have a draft of at least one main character, an outline for a fantasy world, and a general understanding of how to play Dungeons & Dragons. Students, will you answer the call and begin your quest? Treasures beyond your wildest imagination await...
