Report: Push For Congestion Pricing With Lower Tolls

Following the decision by Governor Kathy Hochul to postpone the start of congestion pricing, a new report says she's facing pressure to implement the tolling program with a lower cost to drivers.

The New York Times reports legislators are urging her to bring back a modified form of congestion pricing, with a toll lower than the $15 that was originally planned for drivers traveling below 60th Street. The plan was expected to bring in $1 billion in annual revenue for the MTA and the decision to hit the brakes on it has left the agency without the money needed for many of its capital projects.

Hochul postponed the start of congestion pricing, saying the cost would hurt New York City's recovery. It's unclear if she's considering the push by lawmakers to implement it with a lower cost to drivers.
