About Ekamai

Ekamai is a mainly residential area known for its high priced condominiums and also for its excellent number of restaurants of different cuisines along with bars and nightclubs. People come here to eat and party, and Friday and Saturday nights brings a lot of traffic to the streets. There aren't too many shopping selections here other than the large Gateway Mall down near the skytrain station on Sukhumvit, and even this is mostly filled with restaurants, so come here prepared to eat.
See & Do
Ekamai is not a place to come sightseeing, other than going bowling or coming to a movie at Ekamai Major. People come here to eat, drink, and shop, and it's one of Bangkok's more popular night spots for those who live on the east side of town.
Eat
There is an incredible range of food in Ekamai, from Greek at Olive to fresh sashimi at Tororo, and from uber expensive Italian at Fuzio down to almost street stall prices at Sabai Jai Gai Yang. Take your pick, when it comes to eating in Ekamai, you can't go wrong, it just depend what cuisine you want and how much you want to spend.
Party
While Ekamai doesn't quite match Thonglor for square footage of bars, it comes a close second, and there are some great options here. Craft beer specialists Mikkeller are well worth checking out, both for their product as well as their lovely hidden garden location. For signature cocktails by amazing mixologists, you can't top Sugar Ray, and the happy hour deals at Tuba can't be beat.
Stay
Ekamai is home to restaurants and bars, and while it is a very desirable place to live, it is all about condominiums here, not hotels. Places like the nearby Baan 58 Apartments are good if you are looking at a long term stay.
Shop
Both the Gateway Mall and Ekamai Major provide shopping options, along with the Index Living Mall and Big C in the Ekamai Power Center, and there are some funky retro style shops like Unfashion in the Ekamai Mall up on Soi 10.
