Southtown, known as the arts district, is one of the best neighborhoods to visit in San Antonio - it's appealing to locals, travelers and hipsters alike for the great food, entertainment, shopping and so much more. This little community nestled within the 7th largest city in the country is beyond charming!
See & Do
If you're lucky enough to be in San Antonio on the first Friday of any given month, be sure to head to Southtown, along South Alamo Street to take advantage of their thriving arts scene and arts walk. The event centers around the Blue Star Arts Complex. Other great attractions include the historic homes and the fantastic views of the residential part of the riverwalk.
Eat
There is no shortage of versatile and amazing cuisine in Southtown, from European fare at La Frite to Latin fusion at Azuca or upscale eateries with contemporary plates and unique flavors such as the Monterey or Feast. If you just want simple great Tex-Mex, our favorite hole-in-the-wall is Tito's! Look no further, you can eat in style in Southtown!
Party
The Friendly Spot and La Tuna are neighborhood favorites for kicking back after a long day or long week with a few brews and some good tunes in a fun yet very relaxed atmosphere. If you want to add a little food to the mix, check out the Alamo Eats food truck court. On the other hand, if you want to dress up, drink some amazing margaritas and listen to live music, try Rosario's and Azuca!
Shop
Be sure to check out all the amazing art galleries, such as Mercury Project, not only for enhancing your art collection but for entertainment as well, particularly on the weekends. Southtown has an assortment of unusual shops such as Pulquerios, where you can find one-of-a-kind imported gifts and specialty items. Southtown sports a great little record store and a few jewelry shops as well.
