Tribeca has managed to find the right balance of great New American cuisine and exceptional service in a warm, cozy atmosphere and all at a surprisingly low price point. They're also open for lunch during the week, brunch on Sundays and happy hour for some mixologist-invented elixirs. The cuisine is eclectic and largely created with locally-sourced ingredients from a wide variety of Texas farms and ranches that Tribeca proudly displays on their website. The dishes are nothing short of divine. Where else will you find a dish made of brussel sprouts, crispy house-made pancetta, pecorino, rosemary vinaigrette and a poached farm egg that can so easily become an obsession? Other favorites include the Oven-Roasted Lockhard Quail with asparagus and wild mushroom risotto and Seared Scallops, perfectly cooked, with butternut squash risotto, sauteed spinach and lemon butter sauce.

They offer homemade soups, fresh salads, hand-tossed pizzas and strombolis along with Italian favorites such as eggplant parmigiana and spaghetti with homemade meatballs. We know it's not always easy to find good gluten-free pizza so we wanted to make sure to give you a great option. The dough is made in-house, using Bob's Red Mill flour. SOBRO is one of the newer additions to the community around the Pearl Brewery and is solely dedicated to serving up fantastic Neapolitan pizza in their large, modern and upbeat restaurant. They make their dough from scratch using imported Italian "00" flour, which they swear makes the best crispy crust with a slight chewy texture. Their menu is quite expansive and allows you to choose an array of reds, whites, greens or calzones, antipasti and even salads, if you're inclined. The reds include classics like a margherita pizza and pepperoni. A white pizza creation that's uniquely tasty is SOBRO's FigJam made with sweet figs, prosciutto and tangy gorgonzola. If you like your pizza green, you might enjoy the Pesto e Verdura made with pesto, house mozzarella, gorgonzola, fresh arugula and grilled mushrooms.

There's nothing better than take-out pizza, and no one does it better than Grimaldi's, who serves up authentic New York style thin crust pizza. When it comes to pizza, you can't go wrong with their brick-oven cooked options which are made to order. The ingredients are superbly fresh and piquant. With their homemade mozzarella, sauce, and crust, you be pleasantly satisfied, not overly-stuffed with greasy food. They have some great salad options if you're wanting to avoid carbs, but if you're eating pizza, you might want to consider sharing the salad. The meatball is definitely one of the best around, but you can never go wrong with pepperoni!
Recommended for Pizza because: This NY style pizza is hard to beat if this is what you love!
Kimberly's expert tip: Head straight to the bar to pick up your to go order!

This fairly recent addition to the San Antonio scene has folks claiming it's the best pizza in town, regardless that it's actually a chain. According to Mellow Mushroom, they are a state of mind, a culture, a way of being. Their mission is to provide delicious food in a fun and creative environment, and they claim to be the originators of the Classic Southern Pizza. We will agree their unique and flavorful crust is amazing. They began from humble roots, born out of the hippy culture of the 70's and they've managed to preserve the best that that culture has to offer. No one knows food better! Their house special pizza has everything but the kitchen sink and their Kosmic Karma with red sauce, feta, mozzarella, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and Roma tomatoes with a pesto swirl is another fan favorite.
Recommended for Pizza because: Families with kids love the mellow mushroom. They feature lots of kid favorites.
Kimberly's expert tip: If you're not in the mood for pizza, no worries! Their menu also features salads, calzones, hoagies and other snacks.
Fratello's is part restaurant, part deli, part market and wholly delicious! It's a great place to grab a quick bite to eat that's not only fresh but affordable. Their dishes come from hearty family recipes that inspire memories of sitting around the kitchen table, talking, eating, laughing and loving life. The "American Dream" brought many immigrants to America, including their Italian grandparents, uncles and aunts that settled in San Antonio, Texas. Fratello's offers beloved Italian classics such as Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna, Linguine with meatballs and traditional tomato sauce. Fratello's makes all their breads from scratch. Plus, it's the only place in town you can get a bowl of Bucatini al' Amatriciana! They use premium imported Italian ingredients as well as locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. They also use Volpi, America's Oldest Maker of Dry Cured Italian Meats. You'll find a love for tradition and flavor in every Fratello's bite!
Recommended for Pizza because: Fratello's serves up some amazingly authentic pizza, sandwiches, salads and more!
Kimberly's expert tip: Fratello's easily makes THE best neapolitan-style pizza in town! If you like spicy, try the Salame Piccante. You can even watch your pie being made before it's put into the oven.
Despite being a relatively young pizzeria (first opening in November 2007) Dough Pizzeria Napoletana has been featured in nearly a dozen nationally circulated publications including Food Network and Rachel Ray's Magazine. One look at Dough's extensive menu and it's easy to see why so many rave about this meek pizza joint. Not only do they offer some of America's best pizza but they also have several local and domestic wines along with their own home made gellato. and, to top it all off, they grown all of their own herbs in the restaurant's own herb garden which is picked daily.
Recommended for Pizza because: Some say Dough serves up the best pizza in town. You'll have to try it to find out.
Kimberly's expert tip: Dough is about 15 minutes from the airport. A great choice if you are in north central San Antonio. It's usually crowded by 7:00 pm so if you want to be seated sooner, arrive between 5:30-6:00pm
Barbaro isn't just any pizza joint, think of it more as a pizza speakeasy - a neighborhood bar that features craft beer and absolutely fantastic pizza, salads and desserts showcasing the finest ingredients in combinations you wouldn't come up with on your own but make perfect sense once they're on your palette. If pizza had its own Oscar's, Barbaro's would be the Scarlet Johansson of the evening - sexy, sophisticated, clever and unique. We'd like to add cheesy, but you get our meaning. Barbaro's recently moved into the quaint Monte Vista neighborhood next to Lilly's cookies on McCullough and is yet another brilliant culinary creation birthed by the restaurateurs of The Monterey and Hot Joy.
Recommended for Pizza because: Barbaro is an intimate space that gets lively in the evenings, but is a great place to grab a bite.
Kimberly's expert tip: If you like mushrooms, you will love the Lobster and Oyster Mushrooms Pizza, made with fior de latte, boucheron, porcini oil and chives!
What do you get when you pair one of San Antonio's most exceptional chefs with America's favorite food? You get a restaurant like Il Forno, that serves up the most incredible Neapolitan wood-fired pizzas, made with the freshest ingredients that are either locally-sourced, such as beautiful figs from a nearby farm, or house-made, such as the ricotta and mozzarella cheese. However, first it must be mentioned that the oven used to make all of the crispy, bubbly pizzas was made by hand, by chef and owner Michael Sohocki himself, who has a reputation for doing everything with his own two hands. The space is casual, and family-friendly, and uses a lot of re-purposed materials. While that is appreciated, this is the kind of pizza you would eat wherever you could find it, whether it be at a roadside truck stand or the planet Mars. Just one bite of the perfectly crispy yet chewy crust topped with their delectable hand-made ingredients and you'll be hooked. All of their meats are made in-house as well, including pepperoni, coppa, Italian sausage, prosciutto and sopressata. You can also add an egg to any pizza to give it that extra richness. Denizens of the neighborhood have been flocking to this new pizza joint, so make sure not to miss out!
Recommended for Pizza because: This newly-opened pizza joint is hands-down the best in San Antonio!
Kimberly's expert tip: The only tip here is to try as much as you possible can!
