Barbaro isn't just any pizza joint, think of it more as a pizza speakeasy, a neighborhood bar that features craft beer and absolutely fantastic pizza, salads and desserts showcasing the finest ingredients in combinations you wouldn't come up with on your own but make perfect sense once they're on your palette. If pizza had its own Oscar's, Barbaro's would be the Scarlet Johansson of the evening - sexy, sophisticated, clever and unique. We'd like to add cheesy, but you get our meaning. Barbaro's recently moved into the quaint Monte Vista neighborhood next to Lilly's cookies on McCullough and is yet another brilliant culinary creation birthed by the restaurateurs of The Monterey and Hot Joy.
Recommended for Late Night because: What's better late at night than some gourmet pizza and a few brews, and Barbaro doesn't disappoint!
Kimberly's expert tip: If you like mushrooms, you will love the Lobster and Oyster Mushrooms Pizza, made with fior de latte, boucheron, porcini oil and chives!
Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery is a restaurant and brewery located inside The Pearl's historic brewhouse and is the place to eat in San Antonio for a delicious, fine dining experience. Southerleigh serves up incredible East Texas home-style cuisine that's very coastal and is also influenced by other southern states. These hearty, flavorful dishes are part of a farm-to-table menu that is constantly changing because they use as much of the whole animal and seasonal produce as they possible can. Large plates might include Whole Crispy Gulf Flounder with parsley and drawn butter or Brick Griddled Diamond H Quail with pickle mustard chow chow. They also offer an assortment of Boils like a Shrimp Boil with pork jowl, okra, corn and potato as well as a long list of savory sides such as dirty rice and wood-fired creamy grits. Beer connoisseurs will likely appreciate Southerleigh's commitment to honoring the tradition of this historic brewery by brewing their own craft beers like Big Shell Coconut Porter, Seawall Belgian Wheat and Conjunction Curry Porter. No matter which way the winds are blowing, Southerleigh is bringing in some phenomenal cuisine to San Antonio and raising the culinary bar here just a little bit higher!
Recommended for Late Night because: Southerleigh is a new restaurant at the Pearl Brewery with amazing food!

Hot Joy started out as a pop-up restaurant on Monday nights when The Monterey was closed. Their Twice-Fried Chicken Wings made with crab fat caramel is now the stuff of legends and partly responsible for why they quickly gained a loyal following. Get ready for extreme sensory overload, from the explosion of color in the decor to the explosion of flavor in every dish! Hot Joy is not for the faint of heart but the daring palette. Chef Quealy Watson has an obsession with Asian food and a talent for combining ingredients in a surprisingly delicious way. "I would have never thought of that, but it really works," can often be heard around the tables at their restaurants. The Crispy Pork Belly tacos made with a Malaysian flatbread, mole ssamjang, Kewpie and herbs works. The Hot Fried Chicken made with chili oil, Szechuan peppercorn, sour chilies and oyster sauce works. Quite frankly, it all works. There is not a dish on this menu that isn't worth trying, so let you're own adventurous palette decide.
Recommended for Late Night because: Hot Joy knows how to enliven your late nights with some spicy food.
Kimberly's expert tip: Start your meal off with the homemade Banchan or Fried Pork Springrolls and save room for one of their wonderfully unique desserts!
Max's Wine Dive doesn't look very divey at all, in fact, they're an upscale joint but with a pretty humble attitude. Designed to be a chill and relaxed bar and restaurant, Max's blends a casual, industrial feel with a gourmet comfort food and wines from around the world. Max's mantra is "Fried Chicken and Champagne? Why the Hell Not?" Max's claims that on, "any given night of the week, you'll find a 20-something sitting at the bar next to a 60-something; each drinking the same Aussie Shiraz with the "Texas Haute Dog" and listening to rockin' tunes from the juke box." All over the city of San Antonio we've heard exclamations of delight over the most amazing fried chicken. Upon asking, invariable the answer is Max's Wine Dive.
Recommended for Late Night because: Almost midnight and craving some incredible fried chicken, then you're in luck at Max's!
Kimberly's expert tip: Make sure to save room for their bread pudding for dessert... your only regret may be that your tummy's not big enough to eat it all!
East meets west at this Peruvian restaurant that gleefully plays with Asian-South American fusions. The cuisine is properly referred to as Chifa Nikkei. In Peru, Chifa refers to Chinese-Peruvian cuisine and Nikkei to Japanese-Peruvian food. The seasoned chef of Botika, Geronimo Lopez, is a world traveler from Caracas, Venezuela. His cuisine is inspired by all of a multitude international cultures, offering diners a taste of something unique and exceptional. Unlike anything else you'll find at the Pearl or even in San Antonio for that matter, Botika is a fun and surprisingly affordable place to take a date before the game or any other kind of event. Start your meal with some Hoisin-shitake braised pork steamed buns or the duck confit and potato empanadas. As you roll into your main course, go light with some beautiful fresh sushi or dig into a signature dish.
Recommended for Late Night because: Botika is one of the hot spots at the Pearl, no matter what time of day or night.
Kimberly's expert tip: Go early and sip some cocktails out on their comfortable and colorful patio.

The Valencia Hotel's restaurant, Dorrego's, proves that some hotel restaurants can shine. Although Latin flavors are not rare in San Antonio, Dorrego's showcases Argentinean fare, something you're not likely to run across in the Alamo City. Although Executive Chef, David Rapozo draws his inspiration from the vast culinary heritage of Argentina, he also brings a depth of knowledge and experience to the table that makes all the delicious difference. Start your meal out right with fresh PEI mussels with chorizo, beer and lemon, before moving on to a fillet of grouper with fresh sage wrapped in prosciutto or a risotto with wild mushrooms, applewood smoked bacon, a gorgeous sunnyside up egg and onion straws For downtown visitors, you might wish to stop in for some cocktails to enjoy on their lovely patio, situated along the riverwalk. Dorrego's is a veritable treat, and the perfect choice for late night eats!
Recommended for Late Night because: For fine dining after regular hours, this gorgeous Spanish Colonial-style downtown restaurant is a great option for indoor and outdoor dining, drinks and dessert.
Kimberly's expert tip: You can even grab a bite to eat at the bar, which is open until 2 am.
