North Dallas encompasses a wide geographical area in the northern quadrant of the city and though its exact boundaries are hard to define, most consider the area between NW Highway and I-635 (LBJ Freeway) as North Dallas. It's little wonder that North Dallas is a popular place for residents and visitors alike, it offers everything from trendy restaurants and chic shopping centers to some of the city's most expansive estates.
See & Do
Parks, trails and shopping galore are sure fire ways to keep busy in this sprawling Dallas 'hood, but the area is also home to one of Dallas' hidden treasures. Located next to NorthPark shopping center, The Museum of Biblical Art boasts eleven galleries of Jewish and Christian art; including rare bibles, religious artifacts, bronze sculptures, drawings, fine prints and oil paintings by masters such as John Singer Sargent, Andy Warhol, Marc Chagall and more. The museum also hosts a variety of traveling exhibitions, classes and special musical performances.
Eat
North Dallas has no shortage of great restaurants and the choice is certain to please just about every taste and budget. For sumptuous Latin-inspired specialties and some of the best desserts in town, head to La Duni. In the mood for something even more exotic? Try the fragrant kabobs and masalas at India Palace. Terrific modern American fare can be had at Suze. And speaking of American fare, The Theodore serves up re-imagined American classics and fancy cocktails in a setting stately enough to impress Teddy Roosevelt himself.
Stay
Staying in North Dallas offers easy access to most of the city's prime destinations. Along LBJ Freeway you'll find popular hotel brands such as the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre and the Sheraton Dallas North Galleria. At the Galleria, there's the opulent Westin hotel and near Northpark you can cozy up at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dallas-Campbell Centre. Those interested in a little pampering may want to consider the Cooper Hotel, Conference Center & Spa, located at Dallas' premier health and fitness center in the heart of Preston Hollow.
Shop
There's no doubt that Dallas is best known for its fabulous shopping and two of the best shopping malls in the metroplex are located in North Dallas. For the ultimate high-end retail shopping experience, hit NorthPark Center, ranked among the top five shopping destinations in the country. The Center's art collection, featuring major works by Andy Warhol, Frank Stella and the like— is worth a visit here on its own— not to mention the myriad of stores and specialty boutiques, ranging from Neiman Marcus to Burberry and H&M. More retail therapy can be had at the Dallas Galleria, where shoppers can find everything from Nordstrom and Belk to Gucci and even an American Girl Boutique. The mall also sports an ice skating rink under a glass vaulted ceiling modeled after the historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, Italy.
