A few miles east of downtown Dallas lies a pedestrian-friendly area known to locals as the Lowest Greenville Avenue neighborhood. Bounded by Alta and Bell Avenues, this charming two-block strip boasts sidewalk cafes, laid-back watering holes and eclectic shops that cater to families and hipsters alike.
Eat
A recent influx of eateries, gastro pubs and artisan food shops has
turned Lowest Greenville into a foodie destination. On one side you'll find elevated American classics at Remedy, upscale seasonal offerings at Clark Food & Wine Co. and Afghan cuisine at Nora Restaurant and Bar. On the other, Boulangerie by Village Baking Co. is great for traditional French pastries and sandwiches, bbbop Seoul Kitchen for Korean fare and The Blind Butcher for charcuterie and poutine.
Party
Lowest Greenville's nightlife offers a welcoming, laid-back vibe—where on any given night you'll find cocktail aficionados congregating on restaurant rooftops and at places like the Libertine Bar, one of the city's most popular gastropubs. For craft beer aficionados, there's the Dallas Beer Kitchen, and the Truck Yard, a funky food truck park with a bar perched up in a tree. And for Czech beers and live entertainment, be sure to check out the Bohemian Cafe.
Shop
Though Lowest Greenville Avenue may not sport as many shops as its upper half does, you can still score some great treasures. Along with the popular grocery market, Trader Joe's, locals like to gravitate to Steel City Pops for artisan popsicles in exotic flavors and to Dude Sweet Chocolate for unique sweet treats. For cool gifts, think witty T-shirts, try Bullzerk— and Transit Bicycle Co. has all your biking needs covered.
