About Salamanca

Salamanca is a beautiful residential neighborhood and shopping district of wide streets and grand 19th century buildings, some of which are now foreign embassies. Salamanca is home to Madrid’s wealthier and most aristocratic residents, as well as the up market shopping boulevards Serrano and Ortega y Gasset.
Eat
While the Salamanca neighborhood is typically a great place to go for quality, traditional Spanish restaurants, here you’ll also find modern eateries, gourmet places and restaurants serving different international cuisines. During the day you’ll probably be dining alongside ladies who lunch and nearby embassy staff, while at night you’ll likely be surrounded by the local residents.
Stay
Often grand, beautiful and expensive, Salamanca’s accommodation choices reflect the nature of Madrid’s most aristocratic neighborhood. In this area you’ll find luxurious and well-known five star hotels like Wellington, Adler, Villa Magna and Gran Melia Fenix, as well as a plethora of great four star hotels.
Shop
When it comes to elegant fashion and fine house wares, Salamanca is the Spanish capital’s shopping heaven – the neighborhood’s two main shopping arteries being Serrano and Ortega y Gasset streets. The most important Spanish designers and international brands all have stores in Salamanca. Apart from the big names though, there are plenty of smaller shops that warrant careful attention, too.
