About Philadelphia, PA Shopping
Granted, Philadelphia's not generally held in the same esteem as Los Angeles, Miami or New York when it comes to shopping, but maybe it should be. After all, you don't have to pay a sales tax on any clothes you purchase here, and there's a growing cadre of sought-after indie designers who are making their mark on the fashion world. With that in mind, the city's shops are legendary for their selections of vintage clothing, particularly so on South Street, Pine Street (aka Antique Row) and in Old City. For a taste of more current fashions, there're places like King of Prussia Mall and the Shops at Liberty Place. To cultivate an avant-garde or hipster vibe, look to the eclectic shops along Liberties Walk or Piazza at Schmidts, both in Northern Liberties. For shopping of the non-sartorial kind, you'll find public market places located throughout the city, notably the Reading Terminal Market in Center City and South Philly's famous Italian Market on 9th Street.
