One of Oahu's most elite neighborhoods where some of the richest people on the island live, Kahala still offers something for everyone - except for affordable homes. Located on the south side of the island, Kahala is home to beautiful places to swim out here in often calm parts of the ocean. A splendid shopping mall along with many spectacular eateries, both casual and formal, and Oahu's largest health food store all call Kahala home. An often sunny part of the island with light winds, Kahala is worth a drive and luckily for visitors, is conveniently along the way from Honolulu to the east side of the island.
See & Do
Some of Oahu's most spectacular homes and expensive real estate exist along Kahala Avenue. Many have unobstructed ocean views, and another huge amount resemble mansions from Beverly Hills. For a leisurely drive along the ocean to take in some of the home in awe, and other in humor (some are quite huge and odd) spend a few minutes looking at Hawaii's most elaborate homes. At the very least, it lends an understanding of the differences between sides of the island.
Eat
A great restaurants that shouldn't be missed are located in Kahala. Hoku's makes a home inside of the extravagant Kahala Hotel and Resort. Offering an eclectic blend of Hawaiian, Asian, and European flavors, the exquisite food mirrors the melting pot that the islands are.
Views are nothing short of amazing here, as every single table inside of the multi-level dining rooms has a full panoramic view of the ocean. Resort wear is appropriate and reservations are definitely recommended.
Party
If enjoying cocktails while gazing down on dolphins leaping around an indoor pools before dancing to live music is your type of nightlife, The Veranda is for you.
With the luxury Kahala Hotel and Resort located here, it's no surprise that there are a few really nice places to get dressed up and head out for a couple of drinks and socializing. Check out The Veranda inside of the resort is designed in classic and elegant plantation style decor and overlooks the dolphin lagoon. In the evening, light live jazz or a pianist play and the dance floor offers another element to add to the evening.
Stay
Time spent at the Kahala Hotel and Resort is time spent truly living in the lap of luxury. Backing a white sand beach, the hotel is frequented by royalty, celebrities, presidents, and other people seeking strictly high end treatment. It is located a short drive from bustling Honolulu and Waikiki, as well as to the glorious white sand beaches of the east side. The Kahala Resort is perfect for weddings, romantic getaways, and family time.

With over 50 small shops and large stores along with numerous eateries, the Kahala Mall offers the largest array of retail space and shopping opportunity from Kahala to Honolulu. The great thing about the Kahala Mall, is that is offers nice chain stores like Macy's, along with smaller local boutique shops like Cinnamon Girl, with a lot small of a crowed than the large shopping center in Honolulu.
The large Barnes and Noble is a wonderful place to relax and browse books or pick up literature or magazines on local culture and lifestyle while enjoying the coffee shop. The mall has something for the whole family, as well as useful service shops like phone outlets and other electronics.
