See & Do
Just a short drive outside of downtown Hilo, the Wailuku River penetrates dense tropical undergrowth and cascades more than 80 feet into a picturesque gorge as Rainbow Falls. Visitors must make their way down the slick, stone walkway to the overlook, from which they have a terrific vantage point of this magnificent scene.
Eat
Full Moon Cafe is a family owned and run restaurant that uses much local and organic ingredients in their menu. Fish is caught by local fishermen and they use grass fed Big Island beef. Serving up a menu with a combination authentic Thai food and American dishes. Whether you're in search of a great green papaya salad, yellow curry or a hamburger and fries, Full Moon Cafe is a fun and friendly place to enjoy.

At Hilo Bay Cafe, you will find dishes like stuffed chicken breast with bacon and pine nuts, and artichoke, garlic, and cream cheese ravioli. Lunch features salads, sandwiches, and comfort food entrees (try the vegetarian pot pie). An even balance of meat and meatless plates keeps everyone happy, and the waitstaff are happy to suggest wine pairings for your meal.
Stay
The Hilltop Legacy at the highest spot in town that allows you to look down on beautiful Hilo Bay. You will enjoy the privacy of the peaceful Hilltop Retreat, a pair of over one hundred years old Bansai trees, koi pond, and the legendary Legacy Stone over 2500 lbs. Walk down through the historical Haili street where you will find museums, grocery stores and shops.
Shop
Over 200 vendors of all kinds frequent the Hilo Farmers Market. This outdoor market is like many restaurants combined into one. Thai food, vegetarian, coffee, desserts, Hawaiian food and other cuisines can be found here. The biggest days are Saturdays and Wednesdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. every other day. You'll find everything from jewelry, to fresh flowers, to clothing and home decor, to food, ready to eat and to bring home and cook.
