With several long par-5's, you won't normally find too many tap-in birdies here. While these fairways are relatively open, you will see a standard cut of rough on every hole. These greens are not too fast; however, the severe slopes found here can make putting quite a challenge. Water hazards and bunkers will come into play on just about every hole.
Boasting a wonderful Fazio design, this course's layout includes some interesting challenges with several long holes and others that require more target golf. You will constantly find yourself worrying about bunkers and water, both off the tee and on approach shots. With mounding throughout, you will also encounter several uneven lies here. Green fees for guests must be paid by member-host.
With roughs and trees lining these rolling fairways, finding the short grass off the tee is important. These greens are larger than average and fairly quick. The water hazards and bunkers carefully strewn throughout the layout will come into play at key moments. With several required carries over trouble to protected greens, only well-struck shots will find the putting surface.
Due to the location of this fabulous course, ocean winds are frequently a factor here. With a number of mounds, uneven lies can frequently be found in these fairways. The undulated greens are large, so expect several tricky putts throughout your round. Water and bunkers are in play on just about every shot, so be careful if you want to avoid those high numbers.
With several very short par-4s you can expect to be putting for birdie if you can keep the ball out of trouble off the tee and hit some solid approach shots. Length is not a major concern here; however, the small landing areas and well-guarded greens will test your every shot. Several holes were built on large dunes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, so the scenery here is spectacular.
This player-friendly course features open fairways with little trouble. Large landing areas allow golfers to hit a variety of shots and still find the short grass. With rolling hills throughout the design, you may encounter several awkward lies. These greens are large in size but only moderately sloped and average in speed, so get the flat stick working early, and you can make some putts here.
Featuring open, windswept areas, numerous bunkers and well-placed water hazards, this traditional course packs a punch. While hitting these fairways is not impossible, the wind will frequently cause problems. With small greens, the hazards will often be a factor on approach shots. Get loosened up before you get to the first tee, as the first hole is a dogleg par-5 with a tee shot that must carry 200 yards over water and marsh to reach the fairway. Hit a couple of good shots to begin with and you can get the round off to a good start. With 17 intertwined lakes and marshes here, you can probably assume a lost ball will be inevitable. Incredibly scenic, the natural surroundings here are some of the most beautiful you will ever see.
With water in play on every hole and a number of bunkers incorporated into the design, there is enough trouble here to challenge you. However not so much trouble that the course is not enjoyable. These fairways are on the narrow side, so accuracy off the tee is a must if you want to hit the sloped greens in regulation. With several multi-tiered putting surfaces, you can expect to see some testy putts.
Designed by Tom Fazio, this course utilizes narrow fairways, an abundance of natural hazards, and elevated, undulating greens to challenge the accuracy of even the most skilled golfers. The fairways are set over a diverse array of landscapes, including saltwater marshes, dense forests and coastal dunes. Signature holes include the dual (numbers 15 and 16) par-threes, which are set along the beach. Though this is the primary members' course, resort guests may reserve tee times one day in advance.
