North Vancouver is a favorite neighborhood for visitors and locals alike, and after you take a visit to this outdoorsy area, you may also be adding it to your favorite list. North Vancouver has many of the same perks that downtown has with its restaurants, markets, views and attractions.
See & Do
North Vancouver is a magnetic force that attracts those that love the great outdoors. The opportunity to get outside and enjoy the fresh air isn't limited to certain months of the year, but depending on the type of activity you enjoy, you may wish to plan your trip accordingly. Grouse Mountain is well known for it's skiing, tubing, skating and snowshoeing during the winter months and is a beautiful Winter Wonderland to explore. When the weather warms up, the Grouse Grind is a grueling hike up the mountain is notorious amongst the uber fit and those that love a good challenge. It's not for the faint at heart. Capilano Suspension Bridge is another favorite escape and offers beautiful views and it's a great place to take kids. The Cliffwalk is pretty spectacular will challenge your fear of heights.
Eat
The North Shore is home to many fine restaurants that lure hungry diners from all over to enjoy a fabulous meal that is perfectly paired with an amazing view. The Beach House Restaurant and Lounge is located right along the water and is a favorite patio spot on warm sunny days where fresh food is just an order away. For a romantic French meal, Le Bistro Chez Michel will impress your palate, and your date. Everything is prepared with passion and care, with the desire to give patrons a true French bistro experience. There's nothing better than enjoying a lovely meal and spectacular views from the North Shore.
Stay
Staying downtown is not only pricey, but it can also be busy. If you're someone that enjoys things to be more on the quiet side, but still have quick access to downtown Vancouver, staying on the North Shore may be an option that would be right up your alley. The Best Western Capilano Inn & Suites is a budget friendly property that's close to the North Shore attractions. If you're on really tight budget, the North Vancouver Hotel is a bang for your buck and will leave you with extra cash to spend exploring the city.
Shop
Lonsdale Quay is conveniently accessible from downtown Vancouver and the North Shore. For those that are taking the Seabus across the water from downtown, the Quay is the first thing you will see when you exit the Seabus terminal. Inside, you will find fresh seafood, artisan cheeses, sweet treats, fresh veggies, restaurants and a few shops where you can find unique clothing, hand crafted jewelry and lovely paper and card shops. Should you be heading to a friend's house from the Quay, there's a flower shop and wine store right in the Quay where you can grab a bottle of BC wine and fresh flowers.
