This over the top, fun restaurant is worth the trip to the northern edges of Montreal in Laval. Named for Thailand's major river and a 2014 Diner's Choice award winner, Chao Praya has been open since 1988. The helpful staff are very good at deciphering the huge menu to insure you get exactly what you like. In order to try as many of the tempting dishes as possible, come with several people. The roast duck with spinach, soy sauce and peanuts and the shrimp with hot chili and sweet basil are particularly good but so is the chicken and vegetable curry, ditto the pad thai. Unlike other Asian restaurants, this one focus on one cuisine, that of Thailand.
