About Napa Valley, CA Restaurants
Hands down, Napa Valley is one of the best places in the United States to eat. Graced with a climate and the kind of terroir where nearly anything can be coaxed from the ground all year round (it's not an accident that great wine and great food go together), local and seasonal is implicit and has been for years. When each dish begins with such stellar ingredients, nearly every plate of food--from the most ceremonious tasting menus at the French Laundry, to a satisfying brunch at Boon Fly Cafe, to spicy, smoky tacos from La Condesa--tastes especially delicious. Many of the restaurants, like Lucy in Yountville and Solbar in Calistoga, have their own gardens to pack their kitchens with fresh produce, and often if you ask where the eggs, or bacon, or milk come from, the answer is 'right down the road.' Beyond the deep respect for the land throughout wine country, and the insistence for the freshest and ripest of what's available, the area's chefs are wildly creative. They are taking their food on flavorful spins through the Italy, evidenced by Redd Wood's blistery-crusted pizza, or tender, fall-apart meatballs, and through France, shown in Auberge du Soleil's traditional Bistro & Bar Menu, with stopovers in Asia and Latin America. From opulent dining rooms with picture perfect views, to casual bakeries, there is pretty much know way to go wrong eating in Napa.
