About Napa Valley, CA Attractions
It's common for people who make the forty mile drive from San Francisco, once they hit the rolling hills and perfect rows of grapes, to exclaim, "We're here already? it's so close!" One of the best things about Napa Valley is that it is, indeed, so close to the city. It's possible to make it a day trip, or even just a lovely, leisurely afternoon away from the city. However, there's so much to do that travelers might consider staying a while, checking into one of the quietly luxurious hotels and giving themselves some time to just relax, hang out, drink wine, eat, enjoy a massage or facial or play some Bocce ball. For those who have a hard time sitting still, there are plenty of scenic, winding roads perfect for cycling, nature preserves to hike through and hot air balloons that offer an unparalleled view of the patchwork vineyards. For the more aesthetically inclined, there are many art galleries featuring local artists who craft sculptures and let their surroundings guide their brushes. If you're the kind of traveler who would rather learn, take a private vineyard tour to learn how grapes change flavor based on the barrel that they're aged in, or take a cooking class from word renowned Culinary Institute of America. There are many varieties of relaxation and adventure to be had among the vines.
