Terrion Arnold might be the Lions next Amon-Ra St. Brown, or even beyond that
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

Work ethic is important in the NFL. You always want to see a guy go out there and put the work in and do what they can to hone their craft. Then there's the guys that take work ethic to a whole other level. The guys that are obsessed. The Detroit Lions have a guy like that in Amon-Ra St. Brown.

The former fourth-round pick has shown since he got to Detroit that he is obsessed with putting in the work. We've seen him talk about keeping a notebook with the 16 receivers taken before him in the 2021 NFL Draft in his locker and we've seen him stay after practice everyday to catch 202 balls from his jugs machine. The jugs machine that he takes everywhere with him by the way.

This is the kind of work ethic that every team wants a player to have. The Lions got lucky that they got one with St. Brown. They got even more lucky that they seem to have another with rookie Terrion Arnold.

Every player puts in the work. We don't want to make it seem like they don't. Lots of players on the team have gone on to put in some extra work since minicamp has ended. Terrion Arnold, on the other hand, has been on a whole other level.

First he worked with with skills guru Jacory "1 Way" Nichols at the end of June. Kerby Joseph, Ennis Rakestraw and Loren Strickland joined him for that one.

The next weekend he was back at it again working with movement specialist Drew Johnson. Then he worked with Coach T. Norton during the fourth of July weekend

That wasn't it. It was after midnight on Monday night and do you know where Terrion Arnold was? He wasn't out with friends, he wasn't on a tropical vacation right before camp starts. He wasn't even getting a late night bite. He was getting late night reps.

Of all the players on the Lions roster, it would appear that Arnold is the one who has not stopped working since minicamp ended. Other went on vacation, got married, did some work or enjoyed their lives. There is nothing wrong with that at all. That's what most of the league is doing.

Just before the draft he compared himself to Deion Sanders, Jalen Ramsey and Darrelle Revis. All of those guys brought a certain preparation and work ethic to their game. So far it looks like Arnold is on the right track to be just like one of those guys or, even better, be a guy that young corners some day look up to. Hard work pays off.
