Davante Adams trashes AFC West rival's social media team over 'garbage' post

The Los Angeles Chargers are known to have one of the NFL's more creative social media teams.

During a Tuesday appearance on the "Up and Adams" podcast, however, Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams reminded whoever was behind the Chargers' viral posts in May ahead of the team's 2024 schedule release that he is far from a "garbage" performer against Los Angeles.

"They posted me and then like a trash can or something like that. The Chargers did. So, I thought about responding on social media to it and being funny there, but I figured it'd be better to just beat their head in in real life and continue doing it the way, because my first game against them, I don't know, they clearly forgot, [I had] like 10 catches, 141 yards and a touchdown. And then the next time that same year was like 177 yards and two touchdowns, I think it was that game," Adams said.

Adams reiterated he wasn't mad at the Chargers players but at the anonymous social media folks behind the criticism of the six-time Pro Bowler.

"I just kind of wanted to remind them what they've been going through as it pertains to playing against me, and hopefully the people that made that post — because it's not the players' fault. They didn't have anything to do with the post," he said. "But this is directed strictly toward the Chargers' social media page: Please, keep my name out [of] your mouth and show some respect."

Adams will have an immediate chance to continue to back up his words against Los Angeles as the Raiders travel to SoFi Stadium in Week 1 on Sept. 8.

The 2014 draft pick's only game against the Chargers while with the Green Bay Packers came on Nov. 3, 2019, and he recorded just seven receptions for 41 scoreless yards on 11 targets. Adams has had eight or more catches in all four contests against Los Angeles while with Las Vegas, though, and he's posted at least 100 receiving yards and one touchdown in three of them.

The teams have split their four meetings across the last two seasons, but the most recent result was a Raiders' 63-21 rout in Week 15 on "Thursday Night Football." The Chargers fired head coach Brandon Staley less than 24 hours after the defeat.
