NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department were flagged down by a woman on Wednesday night who identified a man who had allegedly threatened to kill her over the recent holiday weekend.

According to an arrest affidavit, a woman grabbed the attention of MNPD officers and pointed their attention to an old Jeep driven by 64-year-old Vaughn Harris, who she said threatened to kill her with a machete the previous Saturday, July 6.

On that Saturday, Harris was accused of threatening a woman with a machete following an argument, according to the affidavit. The woman said she told Harris to leave her alone, which prompted Harris to retrieve the machete from his Jeep and raise it “in a striking motion,” the affidavit states.

The officers’ report states that a witness intervened and Harris fled the scene in his Jeep on July 6.

A review of the vehicle’s tags identified Harris and he was arrested late Wednesday night, July 10. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest, and vandalism.
