Jalen Tart joined the WIS News Team in June 2023.
He's a native of Columbia and graduated from Westwood High School in 2017 after participating in the Convergence Media Journalism program for four years.
Tart went on to earn a Broadcasting Communications Degree from South Carolina State University (SCSU) in 2021. During his undergrad career, he was involved in the student-ran news show Bulldog News Now (BNN) from 2018 to 2021.
Tart earned a masters degree in Journalism at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. in 2023. While in graduate school, he joined the award winning radio station Hofstra University 88.7 FM as an on-air talent and sports talk show host. Some roles Tart served while there include beat reporter and producer. He was also a major contributor to earning a 2022-2023 Marconi Award for best college radio station.
Tart is passionate about serving the community and serving the people. He enjoys telling stories and making a difference for the next generation.
In his spare time, Tart enjoys watching sports, listening to music, enjoying nature, spending time with family, and binge watching television shows.
