Tony Chiavaroli

Meteorologist Tony Chiavaroli is the newest addition to the WIS First Alert Weather Team! Prior to making the trip to the Midlands, Tony worked for WENY in Upstate New York and for WBTW in Myrtle Beach.

Tony spent four years at Penn State University earning a degree in broadcast meteorology. He graduated in the fall semester of 2017. Hailing from an all Penn State Alumni family in the small town of Elysburg PA, he grew up living the small-town lifestyle, enjoying the four seasons that rural NE Pennsylvania has to offer. His biggest weather passion from an early age was anything related to snow and how it formed. This led him towards his path of learning more about the atmosphere and formulating the goal of becoming a meteorologist.

Tony received multiple awards from the Associated Press and the New York State Broadcasters Association while serving the Twin Tiers and Finger Lakes regions. While he misses his prior connections, he is excited to continue making new ones here in South Carolina. Tony enjoys the great outdoors in his spare time, exploring the beach, storm chasing, traveling, volunteering with shelter animals, and shopping. He is also a huge fan of Philadelphia and Penn State sports and tries to attend games when given the opportunity.

Tony has been married to his wife Vanessa for over two years now, sharing lots of love for their three cat fur babies, Nittany, Moon, and Drizzle!

Tony was also a part of the 2016-2017 WxChallenge National Championship Team for Penn State. This competition focuses on forecasting skills, pitting dozens of universities against one another.
