Jamal Goss

Jamal Goss, a North Carolina native, is an accomplished television journalist who is proud to be a news anchor on Sunrise. He discovered his passion for the field while serving as a civilian in Afghanistan. During his time there, Jamal worked alongside the US military and was inspired by the broadcast networks, including FOX News, MSNBC, and CNN, where he interned with anchor Poppy Harlow in 2015.

Jamal launched his television career in 2016 at THV11 in Little Rock, Arkansas, immediately after graduating college. Within a year, he joined WACH FOX News in Columbia, South Carolina, where he served as a multimedia journalist and general assignment reporter, eventually assuming the position of weekend fill-in anchor for WACH FOX News at Ten. Jamal is known for his ability to break exclusive stories, including his interview with the family of Donovan Smalls, a Columbia college student who was killed at a house party.

As an award-winning journalist at the Southeastern Journalism Conference, Jamal received a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Georgia State University. His coverage of national stories, such as the death of Samantha Josephson, a University of South Carolina student who was kidnapped, killed, and left in a rural area after mistakenly getting into the wrong car, resulted in changes to the law and within the rideshare service industry. Jamal also reported on the tragic University of North Carolina-Charlotte campus shooting, in which two students lost their lives.

Apart from his journalism work, Jamal has a strong interest in politics and community service.

He is a mentor, keynote and guest speaker, frequently engaging with young people in middle and high school. When not reporting or working with the community, Jamal spends time running with his dogs Zorian and Foxy or exploring the city with a camera and tripod. He cherishes his downtime with family and friends and welcomes the opportunity to meet and converse with anyone he encounters in the community.
