COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with four counts of attempted murder after deputies said he pulled a gun from his truck and shot a teenage boy.

Kiante Siller, 21, was arrested on Tuesday by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, a news release said.

Officials said the shooting happened on June 24 behind Bridge Creek Elementary School on Bombing Range Road around 6 p.m. A group of teenagers arrived at Bridge Creek to play with water guns, the department stated. Deputies told WIS News 10 they were trying to have fun in the heat and that there were no summer activities going on at the school at the time of the shooting.

Sometime during the afternoon, a fight broke out between the teenagers, deputies said.

Deputies said Siller shot one of the teenagers in the lower body.

Two 16-year-olds involved in the fight were arrested that day and charged with assault and battery in the third degree, according to the sheriff’s department.

Siller was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

At last check, he was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

No other arrests are expected at this time, officials said.
