Man charged in connection with deadly shooting at Garners Crossing Apartments

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A 50-year-old man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting at an apartment complex on Garners Ferry Road.

According to the Columbia Police Department (CPD), Pedro Leon-Rodriguez was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Police said they were dispatched before 8 p.m. on Thursday to the Garners Crossing Apartments where they found the victim, a 33-year-old man.

According to witnesses and information gathered by investigators, the shooting stemmed from a physical fight between the two men, CPD said.

Leon-Rodriguez was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center following his arrest. He was denied bond Friday morning.
