Columbia-Richland Fire Department responds to 68 calls of service during July Fourth holiday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Columbia-Richland Fire Department (CRFD) reported they responded to a total of 68 calls of service during the Fourth of July holiday.

Firefighters said during these calls six people were displaced and one home was left at a total loss.

The calls of service included six structure fire dispatches, 18 grass fires, six brush fires, five woods fires and four dumpster fires.

According to CRFD, multiple calls were related to fireworks, including one fire that damaged two homes on Fernview Drive.

In that fire, crews responded around 12:15 a.m. to find heavy fire in one home and the flames quickly spread to the home next door. No injuries were reported.
