Woman arrested in Clarendon County after boyfriend was fatally shot

A woman from Sumter was arrested after her boyfriend was found shot to death at a hotel in Clarendon County.

CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - A woman from Sumter was arrested after her boyfriend was found shot to death at a hotel in Clarendon County.

According to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, Carrie Anastasia Woodberry’s charges are pending.

On Tuesday, deputies responded to reports of someone shot at the Quality Inn on Paxville Highway where they found a man with a gunshot wound.

Deputies said the man was found lying on the upper landing of the second-floor stairwell. The Clarendon County Coroner’s Office determined he died on the scene.

The man was identified as Abram Bernardo Walker Jr., 28, of Sumter.

According to deputies, Woodberry, 27, was in possession of a handgun.

Investigators said the shooting appears to be a domestic violence-related incident between her and Walker.

Woodberry was taken to the Clarendon County Detention Center.
