TRAVELERS REST, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Travelers Rest Police Department said after a long nationwide search involving multiple police agencies in SC and FL, including the U.S. Marshals, a wanted Upstate man has been arrested.

Officials said an investigation began in September of 2022 when a man wearing a lab coat disguised followed a “fragile” 75-year-old woman around a Walmart in Travelers Rest. After stalking her down multiple aisles, he was able to steal her wallet and leave the store in a white Ford Expedition.

According to police, the suspect, Michael Trimaine Jackson, used the woman’s three stolen credit cards to buy two $500 prepaid Visa cards and used them in Charleston.

Greenwood police reported an identical theft in their city and both departments obtained arrest warrants for Jackson.

Officials said Jackson was arrested on his warrants in the Orlando, Florida area in June. He was held in the Lake County Detention Center in Florida until his formal waiver of extradition.

On July 1, Greenwood police went to Florida and executed their warrants. Police said Jackson was brought back to the Greenwood County Detention Center on July 2.

There are over 40 warrants from multiple agencies including the Travelers Rest Police Department.

Police mentioned Jackson also has outstanding warrants in Aiken County, SC and the state of Georgia.
